what would be ultra-cool would be to get some table space at Telford and have everybody who built in this gb to turn up and display them.....

with some suitable table decoration, pics etc.

This is why you are the Cap'n... Idea most excellent, I'd be keen for that(he says, yet to start!)

If this "little" kitty http://amg.cdc.cz/kat29.html followed you home one day, would you keep him?

Joel

well get on with it then.....:)

Not sure if it could be done, have to talk to IPMS high-ups I guess but it would also be neat to have at least one aircraft from each squadron - anybody else fancy this?

The call sign is what you use when identifying yourself on carrier ops.

A three-word callsign is probably a bit of a mouthful, but I guess this would be ok;

"Nongrata"

howzat?

hi kev, i guess but would would it make sense, as the full term means an unwelcome person, not sure what nongrata would mean on its own, if it means not welcome then cool. but i think ill go with the call s"ign

"cyclonus" i hope im not too late ive not started yet, hopefully get it done this weekend, as ive not got much time i think i will just do the one "whif raf cat" i was hoping to do a grim reapers machine but not sure ive got the time to order decals and wait for them to arrive.

lets see what happens.

cheers rob

Rob, if you look at where I am with my model, you'll find you're not late at all !

If you need decals, there's a thread here for anyone who's looking for decals or parts. Give it a try, somebody might have what you need.

What kit and scale are going to build ?

hi giorgio mate, well i picked up 3 kits for 15 quid there all old hase kits with raised panel lines, there was an f-15 a fox bat and a tomcat i though that was a good deal. as i want to build the other too as well but the f-15 will be painted as skywarp from the original 80s cartoon for fun (i think) as that was an f-15 and looks way cooler in black silver and purple lol.

as for the tomcat i cant decide if to do it as grim reapers machine or a fictional raf machine or faa machine just for fun,. ive also picked up a 1/144th revel kit.

i had a sad day yesterday i popped into my local model shop in kidderminster tj models im often down there buying kits and materials. i was sad to find the shop gutted and the the owner also gutted with tears in his eyes.

he told me the council had put the rates up and the council said they would sooner have the shop closed and not making them any money than having it open if it was not going to give them the rates they need. what about the local economy and state of the town, evey time i go into our town another shop is closed the only ones left are smiths boots the banks and pound shops,

so i need to find a new model shop thats not a ripp off,

i see we got till april i thought we only got till febuary i think ill get it done by then . cheers rob

Sad to see another local shop going. It's the same here, more and more shops close because they can't keep up with the rates. Their place is then taken by the only ones that can afford the new rates: more branches of the same chains that are now making every shopping area in the world the same as everywhere else.

I'll look into my spare decals. Not sure I have a VF-101 A though, I think I only have a D with those markings.

Yes, theres time until april... if the GB closed in february, I'd never ever been able to finish mine !

well...I'm not doing mine very quickly either - thats due to not being familiar with the kits, adding extras, and being generally slow. Plus also 2 mustangs, a concorde and other sundry things.

So dont worry about being late or slow, we'll keep the ship into the wind as long as you need it.

Ok at least until april then

:)

Wow! Somehow I missed this thread in the GB. If you've looked at my build process, you'll know that I'm doing the 1:72 Hasegawa F-14D kit with VF-31 markings AJ100 from 2006.

Now, a call sign...this is actually easy for me, as I was assigned one during a recent conversation I had with Dave "Bionic" Baranek, an F-14 RIO and Top Gun instructor who was one of the advisors and dialogue coaches for the movie. (His name is listed first among the USN personnel in the credits.) Since my last name is Gilman, he thought a good take-off from that would be "Gill Man" which brought up memories of the movie "Creature From the Black Lagoon." So my official USN call sign is "Creature."

Cheers,

Bill

A very famous name in the Cat's history ! His name is also linked to some of the most spectacular Tomcat pictures I've seen.
