Revell of Germany 2012

Hi all,

After spending almost an hour this morning reading the Airfix 2012 thread I thought to myself that maybe we could have Revell under the spotlight! With the recent Halibag, Routemaster and HE111 releases and some other kits in the offing including the A400M transporter in 1:72nd, a rumoured re-release of the Wessex in 1/48th and the venerable "Black Cab" in 1/24th associated with London, which I think will be hot on the heels of the iconic Routemaster and tying in well with the forthcoming London Olympics (now there is some clever marketing). What else do we think that we can expect from ROG? Personally I would like to see the continued trickle of re-popped Matchbox kits, with maybe the T.55 Lightning and HS125/400 in there maybe? What are everyone else's thoughts on this.

I'd like to see the AW Siskin and the Piston Provost re-released.

I must add that I only started this thread as I am currently serving in Germany, and it is pretty much the only brand that is sold over here apart from the odd Italeri kit! I have to wait to go back home on leave to browse through other manufacturers offerings, either that or the net ebay etc or my favourite BM F/S - F/T section!!

definitely want the provost...

Provost would sell well I think, it would be the only horse in town and the prices of the MB kit are getting on the silly side!

Does anyone know if the Revell Germany tie in with hasegawa still exists? It would be nice to see the 1/48th Hurricane (again), and perhaps the Hawker Typhoon, as well as the Skyhawk.

According to a source of mine, Revell will be releasing a 1/16th scale collectors set of the Euro 2012 Football Championship winning team. So thats good news for Spanish modellers... :)

And in a related tie-in - Fine Moulds are to release a 1/12th scale model of Shrek under license from Dreamworks ( a product of their successful Stars Wars franchising it seems).

While this wont be available in Europe, there is some talk of Hornby reboxing it for the UK market...

...as Wayne Rooney.

Cheers

Wouldn't mind seeing the 1/48 Apollo CSM/LEM combo released over here, but it looks like another order from the States.

Oh and a re-release of the shuttle launch tower and stack, only ever released once, surely time for a re-pop?

Come on now, you know Rooney's not handsome enough to stand in for Shrek!

Seriously, if Revell Germany put out Matchbox's piston Provost, that would be be fantastic.

I'd like to see them dust off the Wellesly kit, but they likely won't.

Wait for a moment,

there are some repops from older matchbox kits, but no HS 125, Provost or other in the posts before.

If you are interested in what Revell of Germany bring on the market in 2012, no problem,

try this link on the first of January:

http://www.dpmv.de/

You can do this some minutes after midnight and you see all,

all kits, all dates, all sources and all prices.

Enjoy it!

Hey modelldoc, is that 00:02 GMT or 23:02 accounting for Germany being "+1 ahead"?

Fingers crossed for a revised tooling of the 1:72 Typhoon with the missing pylons (after all, the holes are there in the wings, but flashed over)

Perhaps a GR4 tooling for the 1:72 Tornado, including Brimstones and Paveway IV?

But most of all, would love a C-17 and Hercules in 1:72.

And in keeping with Revells previous Dornier flying boats, a Dornier Sea Star, again 1:72.

My list of new tool 1/72nd kits would include a nice Kingair B200, BAe 146, Tucano, Dominie T.1 (Long nose) or even a Grob Tutor. But most of all the Raytheon Sentinel R.1. I don't think there are any nice mainstream IM kits of any of these.

As Revell seems to be slowly doing all the main types that have served in postwar germany, it would be good to see a new 1/72 F/RF-84F ! These are types that have served in many countries for years and all we have had have been the '70s vintage airfix and italeri kits.

Staying with the german operated machines, a 1/72 F-86K wouldn't be bad either, even just a rebox of the MPM kit. if they reboxed the meteor why not the sabre ?

Not usd in germany but used in belgium and switzerland, a mirage III/V would have potential too. I'd happy enough with an updated version of their old kit !

Another subject I'd love to see is a Ju-188 with the same quality of their recent Ju-88. Yes I know hasegawa has a good one in their catalogue, but a revell kit would be cheaper and more easily available.

Not that there's much point in dreaming of new kits when the reality will be revealed in a few hours...

Couldn't agree more - in addition to the German machines there's the Belgian, Dutch, Norwegian, French, Greek and Italian machines to name but a few (apologies for any I've forgotten) in addition to all of those US machines, so colourful, so poorly represented.

Couldn't agree more - another woefully under-represented type!

Yes, yes, yes! Seeing as the way the A-4 kit is broken down I'd expect to see yet another variation on the Ju-88 theme - an A-5 perhaps?

Doubt there will be a new Mirage III from Revell as there is already a new CAD mould coming from High Planes and PJ Productions.

Judging by the VERY British kits recently I wouldn't be surprised if they did a Royal Coach & horses (with waving figure of the Queen!) plus an Escort Squad of Household Cavalry!

Or maybe a Morris Minor Police car with Bobby driver.

Edit:-Wouldn't mind a new mould (accurate!!) Star Trek Shuttle Craft.

No classic releases this year or are they saving some stuff for the Nuremberg toyfair? Might get the new tool EC135 in 1/32nd, the old mould was suffering from some very thick flash when I built the German Army version.

SpaceShipTwo and White Knight Two. That's a bit special. It would have been nicer in 1/72 to match A-Model's SS1/WK1 but I'll settle for it in 1/144. It'll make a great addition to any airliner collection.

Phil.
