I wanna start by say the work is great! Beautiful work on the paint.

I've found 2 things wrong though, the decal palcement on the fuselage (star and bar, and the aircrafts codes) are way to hight up. They should be centered on the fuselage, covering the upper part of the invasion stripes. Also, much smaller, on the props, it looks like you did paint chipping on the leading edge of the prop blades. The lower part of the blades nearest the spinner are hard rubber cuffs, they would have paint chips.

Not trying to critisize, just trying to help out.

Hi Mish, I was talking to Mike who built Frenesi, I'm doing Weavers 472199 untitled nude, and he told me to check out your baby, very neat finish you got there, Ive got the kitsworld decals do they settle down nice, I mean the chequers, Im thinking about spraying the area yellow and applying just the red squares from the decals, I'm dreading the spinner... I reckon it will be a couple of attempts at least, and I hope to get a good paint match for the chequers...

Oh well another model I've managed to cock up, and people wonder why I call my models mediocre! Thanks for pointing it out.

If I was doing the checkers again I think I would be tempted to do them as you suggest. The spinner I had three attempts at before I was satisfied.

I would not say mediocre by far! Other than a minor flub up with the decal placement (easy fix) and those pint chips on the rubber part of the prop (nothing a paint brush and flat black paint cant fix in a few minutes time) your work is top notch! The paint work is beautiful, details are great, keep it up and dont be so hard on youself. I'm sure if you were to see my work, you could point out errors on mine, and I hope you would. A hundred "good job"'s and "nice work" is nice, but doent help anyone improve if flaws are not pointed out. That's how I learn.

Easy fix? Not for me! Prop as you say is easy but the decals and strips will mean a paint strip and the expense of a new set of decals.

Sorry this is the most expensive kit I have ever purchased and to me it's not right so therefore ruined.

My last word on the matter, as I said yet another kit I've ruined.

In no way is that ruined. I dont see why you need to strip the paint, just sort out the decals.Dont get down hearted, yes it is a pricey kit, so when your in the mood.... Fix it.. But its got too much going for it to say its ruined

Decals will need to be removed/sanded off, invasion strips are painted and in the wrong place. So at least a local striping of the paint will be needed, followed by repraying matching in the paint, remasking and respraying the invasion stripes. Purchasing a new set of decals and then re-weathering the aircraft and hoping that it all matches again.

To be hosnest my heart isn't in it.

However I worked out why I went wrong. I used a single source of reference  and it was wrong. If I can ever afford it I will do another one right now I just feel pig sick abut the whole thing.

You may be able to get the decals off using some masking tape (at least it tends to pull mine up) or just do a localized repaint over the decals if necessary. No need for stripping, etc. If you have a line where the decals were after the localized repaint, then I would mask off that area, and use some 0000 steel wool to buff it until it is blended (might need more paint to get to get it blended to your statisfaction if the decals are thick), and then repaint that area again. I would then cut a half circle mask about the size of the national insignia (you should have spares having the kit and barracuda decals, correct?), and then use it to mask over the invasion stripes where the decal needs to go. Spray that area with some of the green as well, so that you don't have bleed through from different colors under the decals, and then apply your decals in the correct place.

It should be a fairly easy job, if you lived closer, I'd invite you to bring it over and we could have a go.
