james424
Hi guys, Bit of a random one... I've not long finished building a C17 and I used, for the 1st time, the micro sol and micro set combination. It worked a treat on most of my decals but on some of them it left what I can only descibe as a water mark on the paint. It's pretty hard to describe, but imagine in you will spilling coffee on a paper then once it's dried up you have a darker area with a thicker mark around the edges of the spill. This happened mainly on horizontal surfaces where the liquids sat and dried. Does anyone have any idea's of why this happened and if there is anyway around it in the future? Cheers guys, James
CliffB
Hi James I've never seen this effect before myself, but I always apply decals over a gloss finish (either gloss paint or Klear) and I guess this would be less vulnerable to staining than a matt finish. Was your's matt or gloss? Now it's there, have you tried washing it off (obvious question I know)? Also, I've had the occassional 'stain' (apparent darkening of the paint), left by masking tape or fluid before and these have usually disappeared once a final clear coat of varnish has been applied. Don't know if this helps at all? Cliff

Harry Lime
Have to echo the two posts above, MicroSet/Sol should just wipe away with a damp cloth. I leave my decals to set overnight/24hrs after application and then just wipe over with some damp kitchen roll and then let the model dry before sealing the decals in. Never had any residue stain the paint. Mark.
james424
Hi guys, Thanks for the replies. I was going to try wiping it down but I wasn't sure if it would undo the sol/set solutions so thought I best leave it and find out the gen' in case it happens again next time. I'll bare these replies in mind for the future - Thanks again. James
