chaddy
Strangley enough, I've been lookin through my Halifax book (can't remember the name, but it's got the Wellintgton in it too) and many of the side profiles do indeed show a blister behind the lower turret position. Never noticed this until this thread arose. Woody, is the book you're referring to Halifax at War" by Brian J Rapier? It sounds like the later edition that included "Wellington at War"by Caz Bowtey. Although orininally pulished as separate books I believe they were republished in a combined volume. Cheers
dogsbody
This image may clear up the question of where the blister was. Pic is from " Halifax in Action " by Squadron/Signal Publications.
chaddy
Excellent picture! And very interesting that it's JB911. JB910 (10 Sqn) likewise a Mk II Series 1 (Special) also had one. However it didn't have a MU turret. I've been looking for as many photographs of this feature as I can find. Thanks for that. Cheers
dogsbody
I'll check through my other references later, when I have a bit more time. Chris
woody37
Chaddy, that's the one. Chris, that's an amzing photo, I'd say my favourite Halifax pic I've seen. There must be a few erks with splinters in their hair from those Rotols
dogsbody
After going through my references, I'd have to say that is the best image of the rear fuselage underside blister. I only found one more, poor quality image. I just realized that the original question was about the blister under the nose. As I have to leave for work soon, I'll have a look at a later date.
