Skeg
Need some advice please. Currently doing a 1/72 super hornet that includes decals that cover the complete vertical stabilisers on both sides. My question is this, what to you do to make it look like the decal has covered the edges nicely especially as its on both sides. I've recently done a Red arrow hawk and had trouble with the carrier film overlaping. I tried to wrap this onto the other side with microsol but without success. I then tried to trim with a sharp knife but it then started to tear. Any help would be great as not overly pleased how the hawk came out.
SaintsPhil
Previously I've done what you suggested, cutting with a VERY sharp blade, I only do it after I sealed the decals though, this stops most tearing. If you do get a bit you could touch up the edges with paint, if you can get a decent match. Phil
Giorgio N
As Phil said, a very sharp blade only after having added all the clear coats. And of course, plenty of patience ! You might try with some small scissors, again with sharp blades Might work on the hornet tailplanes that have sharp and straight edges.
Mike
You could always try some more concentrated decal softener. On the odd occasion that I've had overlapping or overhanging decal film, I've hit it with some Mr Mark Softer from Gunze, and it's done the job, making it easy to fold over & stick. You could also try some Daco Strong, which I believe is about as strong as they get.
