SaintsPhil
Morning all, I'm resurrecting a 1/48 GR7 for KUTA GB and I've decided to do her as one of the harriers deployed over the Balkans. I'm struggling to find references for them though! I have the Osprey book at home, which has a bit in and I have a magazine (scale model monthly I think) with a picture of 2 aircraft on the front. I fancy modelling the further away of the 2 ZG480 as it looks suitably filthy!! Does anyone have any good pics, or can direct me to a suitable site? I have trawled google but not found many good ones of her in the all over ARTF. Also one last question did the GR7 of that era have the GPS antenna on the spine? I know I need to remove the square US style one from the Has kit but do I need to replace it? Thanks Phil

Thanks Phil The Modeller's Data File for the RAF Harrier has a few good photos of the jets deployed over the Balkans that should answer your questions... Harrierpilot
I think - if my memory serves me right - the GR7's over the Balkans were in the standard two tone grey scheme and not a ARTF grey. I'm looking at the pictures in the book: No.1 (F) Squadron in Peace and War.

Dave Fleming
Some of the early deployment aircraft were in ARTF Grey, most were in the MOD-95 colours. Phil, I may have some stuff, I'll see when I get back later.

There a couple of photo's in the MDF Harrier guide, showing ARTF Harriers at Gioia del colle. One aircraft shown is ZG376/24. Shaun.

Two all over ARTF grey in a 45 degree climb. The rear most one ZG480 is the one I'm after, I live a dirty bird... The closest is ZD376, is that the one you mean Shaun? Finn
Go here: http://www.defenceimagedatabase.mod.uk Select RAF archive and then Harrier GR7. The Balkans photos start on Pg 5, you might find something useful there. Jari
