sunshine coast
I am planning to build a few Western Desert vehicles over the next year, and I thought it would be nice to have some sort of scenic item to photograph them against.......... I have not investigated the Mini-Art buildings before .....they are basically vac formed with injection moulded detail sprues ie. windows, doors, shutters etc ... The box ... contents.... cutting out the vac formed sections ....does not take too long ...being a building you do not have to be quite as careful as cutting out aircraft etc .. use scrap plastic to give an over lap to align and stregthen joints ... 2 sections then go back to back to form the thickness of the wall....gaps can the be filled ... That is it for today ...more next week ... Regards Trevor ... Edited July 16, 2012 by sunshine coast

sunshine coast
Basic units going together......masking tape to hold parts while glue sets ..... floors just loose in place to give correct angles to the walls...I shall paint all the walls and floors separately before final assembly... need to acquire a 1/35 local to inhabit the building at some stage Regards Trevor ... Shar2
I keep looking at these MiniArt buildings for use in dioramas but have never been too sure about them. But having seen this one I think I will invest in a couple. Thanks for sharing Trevor.
Silver Fox
Very nice, I didn't realise they were vac forms.
sunshine coast
I would say that these go together quite well ....but do use a lot of offcut strips to reinforce the joins...also check the instructions as to where to remove some parts of the structures to enable the mitre joints ....and don't worry too much about getting a perfect fit straight off....filler and sanding will be needed.... ....but as it is a building .......and most of their subjects are war damaged it is a chance to enhance the model as opposed to repair I shall keep posting as I go ... sunshine coast
It WILL stay together while the glue dries........... ...plus clamps... Regards Trevor ....
sunshine coast
looking a bit healthier now ..... gaps filled and all stuck together...gave up on the idea of leaving the floors out until painting finished...a lot of clamping glueing and filling required to make the fit OK ... building blasted over with a basic brown ready for attacking with paintbrushes ... Regards Trevor...

TonyGol
Ooops spelling mistake. Maramite = Marmite. Paint it on, then brushpaint or spray. Allow paint to dry then using a damp paper towel wipe the marmite off.
