roym
Opened out an old revell re-issue Matchbox 1/76 chaffee for the son and found that the vinyl tracks that were soft and wrapped in a bundle are now as hard as the kit plastic styrene, and snap if you try to straighten them. Is there a cure? Or are they gone? TIA (a rare armour builder) Roy
eaglesixfive
G,day Roy A common problem with vinyl. You may want to try applying some heat from a hair dryer and straightening them, unfortunately though, they are likely to shrivel. Sadly I know of no replacement tracks for the Chafee, only some for Shermans from MR Model and that is 1/72nd. It would be too wide I think. Mike
I'd say gone, sadly Roy. One of the problems of vinyl tracks... even if they're not sitting square in the box they "remember" that and won't lie flat even when they're new. It's probably cheaper just to buy him a new kit or choose summit else for him to build
