Heinkel He-219 uhu A-0-(2./NJG 1)-HPTM. Ernst-Wilhelm Modrow

UHU.jpg

I didn´t have the decais. :wall:

If I do not get in time I do by my self ... : D

A quick briff of the pilot ...

The Fighter of Modrow was a Heinkel HE 219, one of the best aircraft in the category of night fighters already manufactured. On the ground their appearance was not the best, because the aircraft was built with a big, clumsy chassis, a set of antenna at the front and cabin for pilot and radar operator, well ahead of the aircraft.

But this appearance was deceptive in the air this plane was almost unbeatable. Had a modern radar system front FuG 212C-1 "Lichtenstein," which served to slow the location of allied bombers night. To overturn them, the 219 HE used a revolutionary and innovative model of twin cannons known as "Schrage Musik", translation for "Jazz Music", an allusion to the fast pace of the bands of North American swing. It was an impressive weapon, the differential was in fact her shoot for the top.

These are two of size 30 mm cannon, installed on the rear of the fuselage, with an inclination of 65 degrees and fired into the lower part of unprotected and British bombers. The action usually occurred as follows; pilot of a German night fighter was flying alone at night, always supported by radars on land which had the task of locating a bomber. After marking a target, sent to the operator's radar aircraft attacking the position of the victim, the pilot of the plane hunter went to area of attack, the target visually located, is positioned behind and below its prey, spent just under the " belly "of unprotected aircraft, opened fire and the target was destroyed.

Modrow will develop their ability to hunter so remarkable, so much so that in June 1944, on two separate nights, seven tackles four bombers, being awarded the Ritterkreuz (Knight's Cross of Cross of Iron). The fighting has continued in the following months and he again achieved great success on the night of 23 to September 24, 1944, dropping four four English next to Düsseldorf, Germany. From its 34 confirmed victories, 33 were in the course of 1944. In January of 1945 he was awarded the Deutsches Kreuz (German Cruz), one of the highest decorations of the German Air Force in World War II.

On the night of Feb. 1, 1945, its HE-219 plane had problems, Modrow and his assistant, Alfred Staff to use the new seat eject system , one of the first crews to use this new invention. Modrow shootdown his latest victim on the night of 05 to 06 January 1945, been to surrender to the Western allies during the signing of the Armistice, in May of that year. Modrow was credited at the 34 victories in 259 missions, including 109 missions as pilot of game night.

In the 1950s, with rebuilding the German Armed Forces, Modrow joined the Bundesluftwaffe, the new German Air Force, where he remained until his retirement in 1964, when he went to reserve the post of lieutenant-colonel. Ernst-Wilhelm Modrow died of natural causes in the port city of Kiel (Germany) to 82 years of age, on September 10, 1990.

I saw several photos and appears few details to be sure of the actual position of rivets.

For more to be done with them. At the time of the painting will to see very little of this.

Just crazy that (I).

For Other side. This is the way to make a model looks very detailed. : D

Some detail´s missed in tamiya´s model...For exemple...Clock´s and control´s.

I had to do them.

Some steps ...

HOW TO GET THE TOOLS OF A CONTROL PANEL? [/ b]

Simple ..

Materials I used ...

Wire-thin copper

-a plate of lead (but may be aluminum or even plastic: D )

A bit of fine-diameter (much depends on the scale you're doing the schedule)

glue, Cutter-edge fine.

-And be patient. : D: D

DSC_0696.jpg

1-Wrap the copper wire at the ring of drill ...

2-will be formed a ring.

3-cutting at the point where the two copper wires are ...

anel.jpg

4 - Fix the ring of copper so that the two legs are together ... then put the ring on a flat surpeficie of pliers.

5 - tighten but not with much strength ... Otherwise the ring may be very large. The intention is only to draw the curve.

anel1.jpg

6 - It is more or less similar as that in the picture

7 - With a gripper (Pinset). pass a hand in glue.

8 - paste in the ring plate (aluminum, Plastic, Lead ... etc)

9 - With the cuter. Take care with burrs.

anel2.jpg

You can do this directly in the panel .. There are some that are smooth and asking to put the decal .. (horrible :S )

The result is very satisfactory.

There are other techniques ... But this is my choice.

paint time...

I tried for several places photos of the He-219.

Many models that have seen a camouflage with points. Traces so....

But I wanted to closer to reality as possible.

With so many pictures that I've consulted. And help from friends and organizations .

I made it come about ..

It was so so ... ;)

First the RLM 76 on top after the RLM 75 ...

Uhu2.jpg

I made small circles on top, above the color RLM 75 (Gray Violet) with the RLM 76 (Light Blue)

I saw the pictures that the circles were close to each other.

DSC_0753.jpg

At the end .. the model is finished with this ...

In Washington DC. There is a single Heinkel He-219 survivor of war.

The staff of maintenance of Smithsonian Museum began a work of restoration.

The camouflage that I am moving into my model is nearly identical to the model of the Smithsonian, but in reality he has not painted as a reference. And other sources.

he219_2.jpg

he219_11.jpg

These are some pictures that helped and been retrieved in the Net

He's He-219 with 3 books and I am using to help at work.

If you enlarge the photos, will give an idea of what I'm talking about.

The Modrow, there is only 2 pictures. The two do not give reference to availability of camouflage.

So it appears the plane from below.

Just a little to finish...

Details:

Tires scratched.

pneus.jpg

I do not know the name it in English... :suicide: "Domes anti-reflection"??

.. I made a longer using the leftover resin (I recommend using remains of resin to make small sculptures carved by using cutter..Very easy to do!)

cone-1.jpg

Blinded Protection and fit the front canopy made of plastic card.

DSC_0777.jpg

Continuing the details of the cockipt...

Capping the front of the booth to accommodate the pieces that I am preparing ..

In the kit comes to the front of the ventral cannon with two holes ..

In the case of the model that I am riding are 4 cannons.

I made the opening of the 2 that were missing and with a tube of plastic pen that recycled;) did the output of the cannon

.

detalhes.jpg

Now preparing the radar.

I did the drawing in scale on paper and cut the brass tubes in same size from the paper ..

(still in progress)

radar.jpg

For now it's all ...

Until the next...
