Blenheim 219 Squadron August 15th 1940 help

I guess the title says it all, I'm trying to find as serial/code tie up for a 219 Squadron Blenheim Mk1f that took part in the actions of 15th August.

I have 2 code/serials for the Squadron from 'Fighter Squadrons of the RAF' but no date and one clear photo of FK S/L1105 dated August 1940 but as she crashed and was written off in July 1940 when at an OTU I have discounted that one.

Any help would be great. Thanks

If i can i will try and have a looksee in the book i got- by Graham Warner-who retored a Blenheim

In an appendix for the period in question no Mk1's seem to have been lost in action- so no mention.

will try and look through the text when i can tea and plastic call.

forgot what a bostin' book this is!

Just how quick do you want the information? My reference stuff is boxed up and still in Worcestershire, but I have to go the National Archives at Kew in the next couple of weeks. I could check the squadron Operational Records Book which is there on microfilm for you.

Andy

there is no information that you require so far

can give some names:

sgt Dube/WO Sgt Bannister- L6624 the latter wounded by return fire when 619 (NF) were scrambled during the day

John Topham that night claimed a Ju 88

probably doesn't help much-sorry

No, that is brilliant as I couldn't find the Dube/Bannister serial. Sadly it dosen't tiei-n with the serials/codes I know:

FK P L6709

FK O L6734

FK N L8685

FK M L8726

Thanks very much

Andy,

no great rush, I'm doing the Classic Airframes kit so it will be months before I get round to painting it. Thanks very much for your kind offer.

Warner's Blenheim book & Battle of Britain Then & Now have:

L8698 on 15/8/1940: took off from Catterick, damaged by return fire from enemy aircraft engaged off Scarborough 2.00pm; Sgt. O.A. Dupee (pilot) wounded in right arm. Aircraft crash landed at Driffield, assisted by Sgt. H. Bannister. Both awarded DFM. L8698 repaired.

Regards,

Bill
