wkennerley Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) Hi All Well I decided to enter a GB, this wil be my build - AMT/ERTL 1962 Chev Corvette Convertible. Seems it can be built stock or as a hot rod. Think I will go stock. Wayne Edited February 21, 2009 by wkennerley
wkennerley Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) Thanks Mish this has always been my favourite Chevrolet. I may do it like this South African example. Oops this is a '57, mmm better choose another Edited October 14, 2008 by wkennerley
Diesel Gypsy Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Welcome to the GB Wayne. Very nice subject choice. Although I like the `62 a lot my favorite is the split rear `63. Lets face it any Vette is a joy.
Rallychef Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Great to have you on board, nice choice Ian D
seanrgb Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Nice choice Wayne ... looks like that's going to be fun to build
wkennerley Posted October 14, 2008 Author Posted October 14, 2008 Thanks guys, I have been looking through the instructions and one of the hot rod versions has a lovelly supercharger sticking out of the bonnet, mmm I am now tempted to customize it, found a black one with supercharger on the web. Oh well will see once I get building, gotta finish my 1/72 Dragon Rapide first - been battling rigging tonight! Wayne
wkennerley Posted October 15, 2008 Author Posted October 15, 2008 Damn so much for stock build - I have been looking on the net for pics and these two came up, I am very tempted with the silver one!! Who has a modern corvette winscreen and surround and softtop in 1/25 that I could buy please!!!!!!!!!!! Dunno where I would get the wheels either!
wkennerley Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Not much progress as yet, been too busy playing Mercenaries on my PS2. Did a bit on the interior tonight. Still needs a fair bit of work
wkennerley Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) Thanks Mish - Just been searching for pics and would you believe it, all The interiors look to be red, no matter what colour the exterior. Oh well time to strip the paint and start again w. Edited October 22, 2008 by wkennerley
AnonymousDFB1 Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I must admit I've only ever seen Red interiors. But what's to say it hasn't been reto fitted?
wkennerley Posted November 2, 2008 Author Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) Finally back into a bit of modelling, small bit of progress on the Corvette - Yes the engine is a bit yellow, so I have re-done it in a better orange Edited January 24, 2009 by wkennerley
wkennerley Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 (edited) Slowly getting a start on the modelling for 2009 - Slowly getting the paintwork on the corvette to work, some small blemishes still so hopefully only one more coat to apply, bonnet is the worse bit Edited January 4, 2009 by wkennerley
wkennerley Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 Right looking to finish this to display at Yeovilton in Feb (my first GB). Done some detail painting on the bodywork and some under chassis weathering. Engine nearly ready too. body and chassis temporarily together to see how it looks
wkennerley Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Yes finally done, its been standing a while as I struggled with the paint work, anyway its done now and I won't do another car too quickly. Have to finish the Ferrari F-50 but as thats missing its tyres it may be a while!! The bonnet stay has been painted since these pics were taken too.
