I'm thinking of turning this:

In to one out of these:

I'm leaning towards the first one as I have more reference photos.

Problems I can foresee are the Japanese characters on the side, having to scratchbuild the spotlight housing and the winch.

What do ya all think?

Pretty neat, but why'd they paint those big red target dots on the side of them choppers?

Japanease stuff doesnt really catch my eye normally, but, its a Chinook type Egg Beater and its rather colourful :thumbsup2: So this one will be a case of  & at the ready Sis..............

Good luck

Well I've actually made a start! Not much of one, but a start.

I airbrushed the fuselage halves yellow. The reason I've done it now rather than later is that I don't fancy masking the round windows!

Be careful with your seams with pre-painting yellow, I've ran into trouble with that with the MU2. Even a thin strip of filler shows through very easily with white or yellow being so transparent. You can't get a good coat of primer down very easily without repriming the whole thing.

With hindsight the white milliput would have solved some some grief (possibly anyway, different shades of white become pretty noticable when shown together).

I have a cunning plan.....

The top part has to be white so will need respraying and the underside I can easily respray yellow without any fiddly masking.

A bit done today. Slightly changed the shade of yellow, still not quite fight but I think she will have to stay that shade now.

Note the scratch built spotlight mounts each side on the fuselage.
