Osher
Chaps, two questions, if you don't mind: 1. the track snapped, any advice on repairing? 2. the paint cracked, and came off the vinyl. I've had this before, but put it down to acrylic. Anyway to get around this (I paint before I apply the tracks)? Here's a picture of the tracks:
John Laidlaw
1) CA? Once the stuff's broken, all you can do is use the toughest glue you can find... 2) Here in the States, Krylon grey primer (non-filling) does the job. Clean the vinyl first, thoroughly, then prime, then spray. Halfords should have the equivalent of Krylon.

smuts
All you can do is use super glue, try to put the broken links on the road wheels. Andy
Osher
OK, thanks chaps! This time around I'll paint them in situ, but I'll experiment for next time.
T-Tango
Yes, I'd go for CA to glue the tracks, then put the join in a hidden spot. For your metal on the tracks, ever thought of doing all the mud/muck and weathering, then picking out the metal where the tracks touch the wheels etc. in very soft pencil (8B or 9B) you get a nice metallic finish. HTH I do that too, at the end, when repairing and completing, using a metalic pencil. That vinyl track must be weak because it snapped again, in another place, but the first one was fine. Weird that. Anyway, because it's weak, I'm going to attach it in situ, as opposed to pulling it over the wheels.

Sgt.Squarehead
Did you paint the tracks with enamels? If so you may be in for an awful lot of breakages over time. I always recommend fitting band style tracks before any painting or even undercoating has taken place. I use CA glue and work in small sections starting from the sprocket. Once they are well stuck down I undercoat the lot in black acrylic and only then start to build up the colours. For what it's worth & all the best Andy Smith
