timbo33
I'd like to set my Douglas Boston III in a diorama but the availability of 1/48 vehicles is pretty poor - the (cheapest) option is a Willys Jeep - would these have been used on RAF stations during early 1942 and if so, in RAF Blue or Olive Drab? Nev
Without any photographic or documentary evidence to back me up, I would say no. Jeep production in '41 was very low (several thousand), it was only once America got herself on a real war footing (43-45) that they started producing hundreds of thousands a year. I would imagine RAF airfields a few months after America entered the war would be very low down the food chain. Post D-Day in Europe on the other hand... I thought 1942 would be too early for Willys Jeeps so thanks for the tip regarding Matador Models Ken, though the website seems to be down - are they stil trading? I managed to get some links to ScaleLink who offer their products, but even this looks a little out of date? Thanks Tim

Ken
Eventually I'll get the hang of replying to queries. Matador Models' web page seems to be alright from here in the U.K but you can always "Google" it . A thought crossed my mind about vehicles. How about a die-cast of the same period even though they are slightly over scale (1/43rd. ?) Ken
