Clarkie
Just begun building the engine from the Trumpeter F4U1D. The finished jobbie will be an earlier version but I'm getting in a right buggers muddle identifying the earlier P&W R2800. There seems to be 3 different types of distributer cases (there are other differences too but the distributors are the most handy "quick look" reference). I think I have identified the later type but still need to home in on it. Web searches just give me endless pix that I can't place as being correct or not. Any pointer would be appreciated. Cheers
Jon Kunac-Tabinor
Hi there - does this help? http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=AIRE7016 thats the early version, as opposed to http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=PAVE7216 Note the early one has the conical shaped magnetos, whereas the later one has the cylindrical type. Clarkie
Hey I appreciate that - thanks but (there is always a but) I found this "early" version : Still a bit confused here - see the Magnetos - flat teardrop sort of shape and less studding on the reduction gear case maybe I should have done a P51 Thank you though
