Stormbringer
These sites may be of use to you http://www.panzer-reich.co.uk/index.htm http://www.achtungpanzer.com/achtung-panzer-home I will say this much though, your Porsche King Tiger will need zimmerit applied. AFAIK only the prototype wasn't coated in it. HTH Pete Edited August 25, 2008 by Stormbringer
whitestar
Thanks Pete I knew Zimmerit would rear its ugly head at some point just not my first build, I Do'nt have any Milliput but do have humbrol filler can I use this for zimmerit also how much of the tank actually has zimmerit applied, I need to learn the tech terms you treadheads call everything, I only know "engine deck " and "turret" the big swingy thing with the main gun, I could do with a Generic Treadyclanky thing walkaround. Iam so excited feel like a big kid playing with his toy tanks, always wanted to build Some Armour I really like the WW2 German armour seems more I dunno "mean" and the Tigers look awesome Apologies for any Bexyisms that have crept in justincantwaittostart
Stormbringer
also how much of the tank actually has zimmerit applied Hull sides, front and rear but NOT the track skirts and turret front sides and rear pus the gun mantlet. Here's a link to my 1:35 scale DML Porsche King Tiger that should (I hope) give you an Idea of where zimmerit should be applied. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12210 I can't help with what to use for the zimmerit as I always use cavalier or atak resin stuff when needed. the KT in the other thread came with the zimmerit applied. whitestar
Cheers Pete Both tanks could feasibly have been In Theatre circa 1944 45 as the Panzerkampfwagen Is Ausf H and therefore only 1 variant superseded this and that was ausf J Bad news for me both would have zimmerit applied in 1943, by the way the 2nd link was extremely helpful, As for the zimmeritt application hopefully Treadhead King will be along soon all the best Just followed your build link, Super Job Pete By the way what Is a Mig Filter ? Stormbringer
Justin The easiest way (I think) to describe a Mig filter is that it's a very well thinned down pigment that you apply over a painted model to slightly alter the shade etc. They come in packs of 3 and need continual stirring to ensure optimum coverage. Maybe someone else will be able to describe it better that I have. Pete
MASH4077
You will not need zimmerit on the IV "H" as long as you model the one on the box lid, the application of zimmerit "in the main" ceased later in the war
daz greenwood
Zimmerit ceased to be used on German armour from September 1944. I hth Justin.
whitestar
Cheers Guys So would you say that Zimmeritt the Tiger 2 and not the IV H What can I use to Simulate Zimmeritt I do not have any Milliput as I have mentioned earlier Thanks
Stormbringer
There are a fair few methods for simulating zimmerit. Some folks use a pyrogravure (whatever that is) others use milliput or something similar. I have even heard of people using no nails. It might be worth your while perusing some other modelling websites or back issues of modelling mags. HTH Pete
