I am just starting out on a long term project, the subject being a Hasegawa 1/48 F-18A. It will be done as one of the lovely RCAF demo birds, specifically this one...

I have bought Aires wheel bays and jet pipes and a Black Box cockpit for it, I've given up on intakes now as they just don't seem to be available and the covers for the demo bird are quite colourful anyway. My problem (if you can call it that!) is that the Aires wheel bays are so lovely. I need some decent pictures of the wheel bays so that I can see what colours things need to be. I have one nice shot of the instrument panel of 711 but I don't have any pictures of the back half of the pit.

Now I know the Daco book would most likely be the answer to all my problems reference wise, but I am slightly unwilling to spend nearly £40 on something that will be used but once. So, does anyone have any good pictures, pointers to good net references, or, heaven forbid, have the Daco book and perhaps be willing to lend it to me for a few months???

A lot to ask I know, but if you don't ask.........

Jen.

Guess who? There's also No.2, in the "Modeler's eye series," which has photographs laid out in the sequence in which you build Hasegawa's 1/48th F/A-18C or D, in fact the book is designed as a companion to the kit. Then there are a couple of articles (nicked, without shame, from the Net,) on building 1/48th & 1/32nd CF-18s. I'll need a reminder (again, sorry) of the address, if you'd like the loan.

Know what you mean about the intakes Jen. There is nothing of any worth out there, the Seamelss suckers parts being absolutely horrid in use, and the thought of having to navigate them around the backs of the Aries wheelbays is going to b a hard task. I'm having problems justifying thAT HORNET BOOK TOO, maybe you could buy it and flog it to me cheap when you have finished with it :)

Hi Jen,

Primeportal also has some great walkaround photos of a variety of aircraft. The images in the F-18 section are fantastic.

In particular these showing the wheel bays.

Hope this helps.

I should mention here actually that edgar has (yet again) stepped into the breech and sent me both the Daco book and a Modellers eye one, as well as a bunch of printed off the internet stuff. From flicking through them last night I can see that I have everything I am going to need there, along with the link posted by Mick.

Thanks for the response fellas, you know it's very much appreciated here. And many thanks for the offer Turnerdad

Jen.

P.S. Mental, by the Daco book, it's worth it! :hypnotised:
