cmatthewbacon
The Airfix instructions have it overall black, but there are definitely online builds with it in green (with black instrument panels and "gubbins" around the place). I can't find any clear answer in my references - the 45 seems to have been green, nothing on the 46 or 47... Does anyone have a definitive answer? bestest, M. jenshb
The Seafire 17 at the FAA Museum is green below the door and black above. I painted mine black as the advent of the Seafire 47 seems to coincide with introducing black cockpits. For some reason the RAF continued with green on the Spitfires. Edgar
The Pilot's Notes show it as black, and the handgrip is a "0" shape, rather than the usual "O." We suspect it was to stop the pilot whacking the armament panel, on the port wall. Hendon, and Duxford's Spitfire 24s have the same column. regulus
Black. VP441 had an all-black interior when it arrived at Ezell Aviation for restoration. It was then painted green-gray at the direction of the owner. Lee
ron
It was black. 100% safe with this as it is well documentated.
desmojen
I'd go with black Matt Edgar mentioned he has some interior diagrams too, there are a few differences from the Spitfire. Not sure if you're worried about that though. Jen.
