general melchett
Hi there , thought I'd have a go at something completely different and wack some tanks together , being a bit 'aircrafted' out at the mo I needed a respite from deadlines , so I thought I'd have a bash at' tanking'. Now being who I am I thought it only appropriate to model some WW 1 ironmongery and here's my first armour model (or 2 actually!) , the Emhar Tadpole.I love weird looking machines and this fits the bill perfectly.I won't attempt a potted history as you guys know a hell of a lot more than me on this subject I'm aiming to build a largish diorama using them both and copious amounts of scatter and trees or maybe a tank shelled terrain with the rust bucket half submerged ?Anyway one is standard colours the other was done using the Modern Options rust set.It was a breath of fresh air and more importantly .....fun, ( change is as good as a rest and all that!). Next project is a 1/35th ISU-152 and JS3 Stalin , got the kits and every accessory going,( for some reason I always build two of anything at a time !! ).Mad me..... Hope you like them, sorry there's so many Andy
bexwh773
Mein General....... Oooops wrong side try again General Sir, ClankyTankyWheely Thingys dont exactly float my boat, but they are both very well done, but, I hope you dont mind me saying this but, the rusty one is the best, it just looks so realistic to me Bex

CPNGROATS
Mon General: Your pair of tadpoles look swell...almost like a before and after comparison... Cheers, ggc
general melchett
Well, thank yoll kindly ladies, best southern belle accent!!( and bloke's since I started replying to this ......... Melchett; .....subject ... Typing....must try harder ...keep up man!!) , ta very muchly ( back up north!) . Gotta agree, the rust bucket , modelled incidently on my car, does look better. I think the main thing here is that the rust is real , you put the gunk on in various thicknesses and then paint on the activator ....hey presto instant Dagenham dustbin rust bucket. It's great for most modelling specially sci-fi things though if an aircraft needs it then it has serious problems Not really my bag either old thing , did it just for a change and a bit of a laff.Mind you I think I could get to like it What do you think to rusting up this mental looking thing, picked it up for a couple of quid at a show somewhere , I've painted and pre weathered it and now it's crying out for abuse... ...some device jerry has cooked up I'll be bound... and as my namesake would put it ' No good crushing the Revolution over here only to get back home to Blighty and find that everyone's wearing overalls and breaking wind in the palaces of the mighty'. Couldn't have put it better myself.............. Thanks now , TTFN, Andy Gordon Bennett just as one goes another flies in and takes you from behind ....Mike , it's a product called Modern options Rust set, I really don't know if it's still available I got it years ago when it was advertised in FSM ( must be a good 15 years ago !!).Dead easy to use , just splosh on with brush wait a short while and apply activator , works like magic , yo can see the rust forming. It is actual zinc and ferrous oxide so it's the real thing... Angels49
Looks the business General.....for some reason I think there should be a bloke in a Fedora riding a horse in Arab regalia...screamin "Dad!!" and Sean Connery replying "Junior!!!". BTW that Star Wars Whatchamacallit..looks good also. Edited August 6, 2008 by Angels49

Guest snipersmudge
looks good Andy like the rust, can't get more realistic than the real thing!, may I suggest for the dio you are planning that any trees you use would be shattered trunks?, also i think the rusty tank would look good entangled in barbed wire? looking for-wards to seeing more Pete
general melchett
Thanks Pete old thing, good egg ,...You're right of course there would be bu#%@r all left of any foliage just mounds of mud , and more mud , trenches and barbed wire !! a lot of food for thought...It'll be a while coming as there's so many things to finish before November but priorities change... Cheers old sport, Andy
