Mike
I wish I could detail a kit like you from scratch. It's amazing to watch.Nige. I know what you mean... it'd be impressive enough if he was using someone else's resin, but the bugger MAKES these bits himself It's just not fair
BAC
Stunning build, and as others have said great photos! If anyones interested here's a couple of images of the Molins Cannon at the De Havilland Heritage Centre, Salisbury Hall. I was told that the Mossie would slow down by 15 knots when firing the Molins due to the recoil being so great.
Neil
I'm with you,......it does look a little wierd when it's all glossy. They do look awful in an all gloss finish don't they? Should be throwing on the Matt Varnish in the relatively near future though. if he was using someone else's resin, but the bugger MAKES these bits himself Mike, I think the phrase you could be looking for is 'smart bottom' .... Nice pics of the Molins gun there, good stuff. I've only been to Salisbury Hall once, must be over 10 yrs ago now, must take a trip down there again some time, very interesting place. Neil
Very close to being totally finished, a few minor things to sort out . Will add a touch more weathering in a few places and also faint oil/fluid stains on the underside here and there. After the final coat of Matt Varnish was sprayed over the camo and decals, the paint finish still loked sort of 'newish', so decided to simulate a bit of fading. I took some Matt Varnish and mixed a touch of Matt White to it, then sprayed that mix randomly over the airframe, basically airbrushing a 'transparent' White here and there. Took the 'newness' of the camo down a touch. The exhaust staining could do with being a little heavier on the nacelles, and also where the exhaust flow just clips the tailplanes. Been an enjoyable build

Ian
Now that looks just superb..... I personally would leave the plume on the nacelles, perhaps a wee bit more on the tail stabs, but if I may be so impertinent to suggest..... you may want to think about some cordite staining around the gun muzzle.... But I'll bet you already had that in mind to do ! Ian
Neil
Ta peeps . The fading is a wee bit heavy in places, but that can be cured with a very, very faint overspray of the Green/Grey camo colours, with some Matt Varnish over the top of that. geedubelyer
Ah, what a transformation. Matt Coate is your friend Great stuff Neil, another trophy winner I'd say. The canopy turned out a treat, crystal clear and apparent scale thickness. You Sir, are a magician. The framing is ruddy splendid. FWIW, I'd add a little more exhaust staining on the nacelles but that's just me Thoroughly top-drawer offering me old china
Neil
Thanks again people . Cannot beat the overall look of the Mosquito can you? Surely one of THE best of British aircraft.... . Now go do one in 1/72! Already done it Len, was ahead of you there. http://www.britmodeler.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=683 Ah, what a transformation. Matt Coate is your friend The canopy turned out a treat, crystal clear and apparent scale thickness. You Sir, are a magician. The framing is ruddy splendid. FWIW, I'd add a little more exhaust staining on the nacelles but that's just me Canopy was alot easier to do that way than I first though, pleasantly surprised. And if you cock it up it's a simple job to slice another bit of decal and lay it on, definately recomend sealing them onto the canopy with some Klear though, makes it permanent. Will definately add a touch more weathering/staining etc when I get the chance, had to put a halt on doing too much more to it as I have a bit of catching up to do workwise, may not get the chance to finish it off for a week or two at least. Cheers again folks.
