desmojen
Hi all, I bought this on a whim the other week whilst browsing around Hobbycraft. I've long had my eye on it but I finally gave in and paid the princely sum of £5.99 for it in gift pack form. Here's what you get... The Revell kit, four acrylic paints, Contacta glue and a nifty double ended paintbrush. I decided to start on it straight away, and to test the gift box by Revell concept, I used the paints supplied. The kit itself is marvellous. Crisply moulded, well detailed and virtually perfect fit. Everything I wish Italeri jets could be. I've built it OOB, all I've added is paint and glue. The only filler required was at the fuselage join just in front of the Spitfire. I think I could have done a better job of gluing it if I had been more patient and got away without needing filler. Paint was used from the little pots, thinned with water and a splash of IPA. The paints were brilliant, a lot like Vallejo Model Colour but a bit easier to spray and far more durable. The decal sheet is printed by Daco and is very good. They are a bit on the thick side but performed faultlessly. Flat coat is Klear with Tamiya flat base in it and the panel wash is Promodeller. I'm very pleased with the finished model, especially given the price of it! A complete and absolute bargain, my buy of the year so far I think. There really are no niggles with the kit, or the decals, which have two other colourful schemes also included. Jen.

desmojen
Yep! One big decal, and it actually fitted! It was a bit fiddly in places though, not sure I'd fancy it much in 1/48 as a one piece job! Thanks peeps, glad you likes it Jen.

Bandwagon 106
Nice job Jen. Mish, I think DACO did some decals for this F-16 in 1/48 a while back, I'm not entirely sure though. Joel Edited July 11, 2008 by Bandwagon
dswoofie
Great result! I'm surprised the paints worked well. I've looked at mine and imagined the nightmares of applying that Spit decal, but it sounds like it's not too bad then. This is a real bargain at this price, I guess I might just have to pick up another one at some point now! (my other one was £2 more expensive than this without the gift set!) Karl. hatchet
Looks great Jen! I've got the kit myself, not as a giftset tho'. I like how they added a green and brown square to it, if you need to patch something up. Smart thinking by Danny

Alan P
Funny how you can dismiss these gift sets as "toys" but you've shown there's a really good kit in there with great potential! So, did you use the double-ended paintbrush? Al

Al Indeed, not only a good kit but usable accessories as well. The special paintbrush is being used, but only as a tool for cleaning my airbrush. But hey, it's a good deal when you can say that the only rubbish bit was the paintbrush! Well done Revell I say Jen.
