Ugly, Ugly, Ugly

There's a seriously juicy one that everyone's missed so far...the Gloster Meteor F.8 'prone pilot' experimental aircraft.

Not only ugly, but actually quite terrifying! It really reminds me of this beastie from the alien movies, with the second head inside the main one:

No it's OK I've finally found it ....Tail too big , fuselage too short and fat , wings too stubby and flap about, nose too short , sits all squat and covered in ugly bits all hanging off at funny angles !!!!.............

Gotta be the..........PD3062167Library-filer-of-an-R-8634.jpg

And that,s just the Aircrew you have described ;)

Near the beginning of this thread someone had the temerity to accuse the Sturgeon of being Ugly - I beg to differ!

Pretty? No...

Purposeful? Very!

Ugly? Nah...

Unless they meant the SB3 variant with double Mambas of course - now that had a look only a mother could love:

Mind ewe - I also find the prone pilot Meteor rather endearing too...

I'll go take my tablets...

Here's a couple that I don't consider to be very attractive.... Kudos to anyone who can tell me what type they are :)

And also here's some bits of another aeroplane that I don't think looks very pretty:

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the Fairey Barracuda yet?

All those dangly flaps and slats and slots! Not to mention the lumps, buldges and wait... Is that a drainpipe I see before me?

What a Munter!

An aircraft procured under the traditional Admiralty procedure. It is said that a whale is a shark built to Admiralty specifications.

Depending on your definitions.....but it flew. I have seen the film of this beastie being tested, towed behind an inter-war bomber, with this being filmed from the rear turret position. Ugly...and terrifying to watch.....

It was once said that the British and the Americans had a competition to see who could build the ugliest aircraft. Our entry was the Buccaneer and theirs was the Phantom, and the Fleet Air Arm was so impressed that they bought both, to keep their Gannets company.

This may be no help if you want something that exists in kit form, but I give you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:M-15_belphegor.jpg - so ugly that they named it after a demon. It looks so ill-favoured that you could probably cobble one together out of random parts from half a dozen other aircraft ...

My offering to the Ugly Sisters comp is the C-125 Raider:

I really can't understand why Academy or Hasegawa haven't kitted this 'plane - I'd build one!

AAAAArrrrrrghhhh... I always liked the 707 until I saw that http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/1195409.jpg

That's the Phalcon Israeli Aircraft Industries solution to the AWACS. That one is in service with the Chilean Air Force. It doen't have to hang off a 707.
