How I weather Tanks

1 2Litre ice cream tub ( must be a big ice cream tub ) so you can put the whole tank in it

roughly mark out the size of the lower hull , for arguments sake we'll say 1 inch for a 35 scale

fill with water to just below an inch

mix a whole jar or various paint colours , say buff / light earth and a bit of brown

so it makes a whole jar of Tammy paint

then mix with a bit of halfords screen wash

add to water and mix ,so now you have dirty muddy looking water

now heres the easy bit

put the tank in the mixture ( do all decalling dullcote etc first )

then just imagine the tanks come off a river bank and entered the water

so push down on the front of the tank then the back of the tank

just keep doing that

take out the tank just leave to dry

if its not weathered enough , just add more paint to the mixture and do again

just go wild with your imagination

thats what I do

cheers Sean

Sean,

Very interesting technique Sean, hope to try it out on some of my braille scale armour sometime!

Any chance of some after shots of the Merkava? Also what is the purpose of the screen wash in the mixture?

Screenwash will be to break the surface tension I imagine... washing up liquid or any other surface tension breaker will do just as well I suppose.
