Hello all.

Just a few pic's of my intended model for this group build. I have made a wee start, still along way too go!

First the box art that inspired the inflight display.

IMG_2103.jpg

Next I've made a start on the new prop shaft. Made out of brass and a nice push fit into the prop hub.

IMG_2109.jpg

Modified the kit part(front of the Merlin) so the prop shaft runs freely through it.

IMG_2108.jpg

The electric motor. Hopefully it still works!

IMG_2110.jpg

And finally all the pieces together. Thinking I might use RTV to hold the motor in. Might be more forgiving with any alignment issues.

IMG_2111.jpg

Thats all the work done so far. Looking forward to see how this turns out.

Thanks for looking.

Richard.

Hello again

Thanks everyone for the feed back. Erwin I would love to have the Dornier in there too but I'll start with one spinning prop for now!

Speaking of spinning props. I've managed to find out if the motor still works.

Thanks for looking

Richard.

Hello all

Making progress very slowly. Got the motor fixed into place. The internal gap between the exhaust stub position was about 10.7mm. The motor body across flats was 10mm. So with two pieces of 0.39mm plastic it was a nice push fit. Just a couple of drops of CA glue to hold it there.

IMG_2124.jpg

Was a bit of a fiddle to get the spindle to line up at the front end. But I got there eventually.

IMG_2125.jpg

The airframe is going to be mounted on a base(yet to be made!) through a hole on the underside.

IMG_2121.jpg

And with a hiss and a roar it all bursts into life! Sorry about the poor photo.

IMG_2120.jpg

Pilot in the process of being painted. Hopefully when the canopy is on you won't notice he is flying without his hand on the control stick!

IMG_21181.jpg

Thats all for now. Be getting more done in the following days.

Cheers

Richard

The prop is painted and looks the bizz when its spinning away!

Douglas has had his make-up applied and is looking quite surly!

IMG_2136.jpg

Also used the the kit decal for the instrument panel.

More progress. Applied the war paint to the airframe. Humbrol 163 RAF Dark green, Aeromaster Dark Earth and Sky underside.

Hello again,

Thanks everyone for the feed back. Well got some more done on the 'cane. All painted, decaled and most of the weathering done.

Just waiting for the base/ stand to get done. Hopefully this week I'll her all finished up with a final matt varnish!

Had a bit of a disaster when I glued the prop on. Broke one and a half of the blades off! :shithappens: Was able to glue them back on.

Good thing you can't see them when they're spinning!

IMG_2220.jpg

Like I said hope to get all finished this week. Thanks for looking.
