* Spitfire MK1: FINISHED.

These are the final steps to the finish.

I finished appyling the decals.

Next i matted it down with Xtracrylix flat.

Finally i fitted the undercarriage,prop and exhausts.The exhausts were painted in Humbrol Gun Metal.I left them to dry for 15 minutes and then applied some Raw Umber pastel to the still tacky exhausts.This produces the appearence of surface rust on the exhausts.I applied some black pastel for the exhaust staining and some Raw Umber pastel on the underside to represent some subtle staining.I have been quite restrained in the weathering of this model as the aircraft was fairly new in the summer of 1940.

So thats it finished.After a disaster on my last model it feels good to get a completed one under my belt.I'll post the rest of the pics on the next reply.Cheers :D

Aircraft-Supermarine Spitfire MkI,N3249 QJ-P,No92 Squadron,Biggen Hill,September 1940.Kit-Tamiya 1/72 built OOB except Eduard photoetch belts and Xtradecal decals.Paints Xtracrylix for camo /undersides.Humbrol enamels for details/interior/prop/undercarriage.Weathered with Windsor and Newton pastels.
