Yeovilton Airshow

Hi Folks,

Just wondering if anyone here will be going to the RNAS Yeovilton airshow on the Saturday the 5th of July? I will be there working at the 846 NAS hangar  so if anyone does come pop along and say hello.

I shall be attending for sure!

The Commando Assault is always a great spectacle, but also looking forward to seeing the Sea Vixen and Swordfish hopefully making their airshow returns as well as the new RNHF Sea Fury hooning around :)

Also, as a Harrier lover, Yeovilton will be the only chance I get this year to see any Harriers airborne, both in the CA and (fingers crossed) the VAAC Harrier flying, as well as no less than 3 Spanish EAV-8B in the static park :):):)

Should be a good show, though I do feel its losing out on some quality participation due to Waddington and Florennes being the same weekend :shithappens:

I, together with the rest of the department, will be in the field for Friday arrivals, and then I guess Saturday depends on the weather, and how close I am to being ready for this years high trial (not there yet!)

cheers

Grant

Not as far as I know.

No problem, a few years ago there was a display in one of the hangers by the quarter scale group.

I'm there for the real things anyway :D

Shaun.

Good news!!

Just had the Sea Vixen flying over Yeovilton today and she is coming next Satuarday :partytime: :partytime:

That will be worth the admission price alone then.

Did I read that a B-52 was going as well???

All the details regarding the Sea Vixen can be found here

Hopefully, the final approval will be a formality and we'll get to enjoy her in her element next Saturday.

Regarding the B-52, its due to make a flypast or two at VL, as well as performing at Waddington and Florennes in Belgium on the same day. The sight and sound of a Buff is always impressive so looking forward to that one :)

The Sea Vixen is currently parked outside my hangar in all it glory. We had a Eurofighter Typhoon T.2 burning the skies yesterday showing off and also the Swordfish flew for the first time in 9 years.

But sadly there are rumours of a few drop outs from the flying programs but like anything to do with the Navy's way of planning we will just have to wait until the day to find out.

Saw yesterdays flying on the local news last night, Foxy looks better and better each time I see her. Also didn't realise the Swordfish was due to fly, so that was a welcome surprise. Good to see her back where she belongs.

The news footage can be seen here

I thought about doing that but had a quick reality check when I worked out how many hours driving it involved so I've opted for Waddington as I missed it last year thanks to the weather.

Hope you enjoy them

Last year i went to the photocall but it's £20 this year and RIATs next week :(

Is there anywhere good to park up around there on the friday?

Obviously without getting arrested!

There's some info here

I was wondering if you'd be able to park up in the FAA museum? Though not sure what sort of view you would get
