LDSModeller
Hi All This is my entry (I had started it for another group build- a little ambitious with only a few weeks left....) I am planning to build a Mk Ib from the old Revell Mk II kit (yeah I know doesn't have the Coffman starter). It does have a pair of 20mm cannons so I figured what the hey!! The kit Subject History George (Grumpy) Unwin was a NCO pilot (later commissioned) who flew with 19 Squadron during the BoB He actually achieved some success in the Mk Ib, as it was vey prone to stoppages (due to the wing construction not being sturdy enough) The MK Ib only had 2x 20mm cannons He made comment that on occassion he would have to slew his aircraft to fire the one cannon that was working. Just not cricket when you're turning with a Bf 109 19 Squadron only used the Mk Ib for about two or so months before handing them over for some very tired Mk Ia's. Later these same aircraft were reworked wing wise with additional fire power (4x .303mg's) and issued to 92 Squadron in November 1940 George's Aircraft is QV*H The kit is old and plastic a little brittle, but good enough to do the job The cockpit is quite sparse but I'll add to that The upper and lower wings will need re-scribing to accommodate the 20mm cannon, as well as blisters for the additional size of the cannon breech as well as the wheel wells lined Upper wing Lower wing The only part actually started prior to the group build is the engine glued The merlin is very basic and won't be seen, but I'll make it look nice anyway

LDSModeller
Hi Erwin/Darson Apologies Tried to finish it in time , not quite there unfortunately. Other problem is my digicamera broke and so I can't post pictures. If you wouldn't mind transferring this to the WIP section I'll get it finished there. Thanks Alan
