neilw
Nice Pictures. What focal lenght are you using there? I'm taking my 400d to RIAT but worried that my standard lens 17-55 won't get close enough. I'd be happy if I can get some pictures like that.

As my 400D is in the dock for an under-exposure problem (click as you're an owner too) I have 2 decent lenses (EF-S 17-85 IS USM & EF 70-300 IS USM) sitting around in my camera bag waiting for its return... hopefully this week, but DEFINITELY before RIAT ... I could rent them out for an extortionate Fee!

Mike
Hi I'm hoping on using my 70-300mm SIGMA lens for RIAT. Hey Daz... don't you still have a Canon fit 300mm Sigma lens for sale? Maybe you could interest Neil in buying it for RIAT?
daz greenwood
It's still for sale Mike yep. But noone's showing any interest.
mtd350
Tons of Phots taken heres a few of em from a Dull overcast but warm RAF Cosford Enjoy Always love the spitfire display. The sparrows, well they're always good, but there is nothing to beat the Wocka display. Well apart from actually being strapped inside when it's displaying that is. Did nobody tell the pilots that helecopters wern't supposed to do that. Been in wockas more than a few times in sunnier climes, and those guys are just mad

Not sure if I'll go for the canon 55-250 or pay the extra and get the 70-300 when I do get one.

Phartycr0c
Thanks guys. I was using a Nikon D 50 with a 70-300. Neil, Where I was stood, at times 70 mm was too big however at Riat the flight line is some way from the crowd line and therfore would need a similar lens to get any decent shots. That said the opposite is true for the statics so the 18-55 will be fine unless your going for really "arty farty" shots.

Mike
Thanks for the info there. I'm toying with the idea of hiring a canon 100-400 lens for the weekend of RIAT Good idea - That's an L series lens, so should be super-fast to use Your other option is to find Daz Greenwood's "For Sale" thread about a Sigma 70-300 lens with a Canon fit... If you fancy it, make him an offer. It'd probably work out about the same as hiring the L series lens!
