My Airfix Vulcan Part DEUX

Recommended Posts

Fellow Brit modellers, This is the second set of in progress pics done on building my Avro Vulcan. The model is assembled, I built up the cockpit with Flightpath Dash, scratch built consoles and throttle quadrant, and added aeroclub ejection seats and a camera in the bomb aimers window. ( Just so you don't stair into emptiness. I brightened up the knobs and switches to give the flashlight guys something to see because as you know, once the canopy is on you can see very little. I also grafted on at this point the resin replacement series 200 exhausts from Flightpath which also went on "NO SWEAT""!There is virtually NO filler on the mode as well. What you see is to fill sink holes and scratches and a little blending. The kit fit very well and NONE of the Horror stories I read about online occured with this model. I will work on it this week and send more pics before and just after the paint go's on!! Enjoy, Big Bill

Crikey again Bill. Your pics are a revelation, as it conveys a perspective, esp. in elevation, that I've simply not seen before - not that I know much about the Vulcan. It has such an imposing presence and your kit is really doing it justice..... please keep the photos coming.

Try standing underneath one... that's really imposing! Actually, you get a real sense of the size of the beast when you're stood in the cockpit with the canopy off for maintenence. Looking back over that huge V shaped lump... amazing ^_^

Yes, you've got a point....... Bill's effort inspired me to go looking on Patricksaviation for some video of the Vulcan (a search which yielded scant results but sufficient to get the idea); the display it can put on was very impressive. To say the least.
