Johnny Red
Cheers Daz , can you tell me why theirs no 1/35 scale LRDG stuff out there any more , I no Tamiya used to do some but for some reason have stopped, I can still get the SAS jeep but as you no they have stopped doing the 30 cwt Chevrolet . I ask because I watched a film Play dirty the other night staring Michael Caine and Nigel Davenport disguised as Italians the group goes behind enemy lines to blow up one of Rommel's fuel dumps, a great film really got me in the mood for a LRDG diorama. daz greenwood
Hi Johnny. Have you checked any of the internet vendors to see if they have the LRDG Chevy. As it may be available second-hand. "Play Dirty" is a great movie, and I don't know if it's available on DVD?
MASH4077
The Tamiya LRDG Chevy is appearing in limited numbers on E-Bay unfortunately everyone seems to want one so the prices are usually a bit steep. Johnny Red
Cheers pete100 , I've recorded it of the tv, am hoping someone will bring out the Chevy , if there's one thing I've learnt and that's to have some patience in this modelling world . Red Dragon
The best film available regarding LRDG op's is "Sea of Sand", shown on some of the cable/sat stations quite a lot in the UK. GreenDragon
I think it was Raid On Rommel Johnny. Johnny Red
Yeah that's the one, he ends up using a flame thrower above the gun emplacement, is that the film were they attack the oil refinery with a tank, great film
GreenDragon
I think it does have a scene where a tank goes in to blow up two or three fortified fuel bunkers and the tank gets rolled onto it's side by the explosion, or I might be mixing it up with Tobruk? Paul Harrison edit: They might both have this sequence as Raid On Rommel re-used a lot of the footage from Tobruk. Johnny Red
I think you may be right there , I get mixed up with them two mate, do you think that with the CGI we have these days someone might make a good WW2 action film, with lots of dogfights in it. I would like to watch a good what if movie, with plenty of dogfights and land battles with countries supplied with russian and western made hardware. now that for me would be a good film, now what could story be? maybe fighting over a pipeline some wear? GreenDragon
I'd like to see a good dogfight movie too, George Lucas is remaking the Tuskegee Airmen film as Red Tails. Hopefully he won't wreck it. Link http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16225 I'd like to see the Black Sheep TV series redone with modern effects.
