well, the first ever (and best) aircraft type i ever worked on has now departed the first ever (and best) base i was ever posted at. a couple of nice vids have appeared on You Tube marking this sad occasion. i cut my riggering teeth on the mighty yellow taxi and spent a very happy 3 years at sunny mawgan :(

Shame to see it go. :crying:

So silly question time now, who is going to cover their area?? :giles:

Navy at Culdrose cover any SAR in the area, RAF Seakings at St Mawgan were part of Seaking training unit based there. Now at Valley?

yes mate, now at Valley, and operated by civvies unfortunately. 203® sqn is the Sea King OCU, it has only flown operationally very few times, the last during the 2007 Gloucester floods. as has been said, SAR cover for the south west is from Culdrose and Chivenor.
