Muzz
Hello Can anyone tell me the correct grey for AIM-9 and AIM-120 missiles fitted to US Navy aircraft, all the kit instructions I have state white bodies, which is a bit 80's. My referances show AIM-9's as grey with black tips and AIM-120's as grey with white tips. I just wondered what colour the grey was?
daz greenwood
Would they be the same colour as the airframe? As it seems logical to me.
Gary C
FS 36375 light compass grey, Humbrol 127, Gunze 308. The tips are a very dark grey slightly metallic colour.

The tip of the AIM-120 is white, and fins are natural steel, but I find very dark grey looks fine in model terms. AIM-9L and M will have an anodised dark green head (I use RAF dark green as a close match), and forward fins are again natural steel. Tail fins are grey with natural metal rollerons. seeker head glass is kind of a milky white on 9L and clear on 9M.
