TEZ
What seats were used in these planes ...and on the 2 tone brown camo versions Were the undersides silver or light blue Cheers sean Sean, The seat was the Martin Baker Mk.4A and the undersides were 'light blue'. Although the tone of the 'blue' did vary from jet to jet i.e how long it had been exposed to the harsh Djibouti conditions. Giorgio N
Cockpit is black and the wheel wells I've seen were mostly aluminium, although I've seen pictures of some with the floor in zinc chromate Giorgio

Giorgio N
I've the Histoire & Collections book at home, and there is a picture of the official scheme used, together with a number of profiles. I'll check if they give any indication of the original paint used and will let you know tomorrow ! Giorgio P.S. Ehi, I just noticed this is my 100th post... will have to go home and have a pint to celebrate..
TEZ
I have just had a look at the AML IIIC instructions and they quote FS 36375 (Humbrol 127). I have a number of books on the Mirage III including the 'bible' of all things associated with the IIIC (VOL 1) by Bernard Chenel et al (DTU publications). However the paint used were French specs not FS. The under surface colour is listed as being Celomer 6346 2204. I checked a Modeldecal sheet which included FAF F100's (Djibouti based) for a possible answer but this was also described as being grey blue. The underside colour does vary in shade from a grey blue (FS36375) to a blue with a hint of purple ! In other words it would probably be easier to pick one specific aircraft and match the paint to that. If you are short of pictures I may be able to help. Giorgio N
The H&S book gives obviously the same Celomer shade and I couldn't find anything sure about a proper correspondance. I found fs.35189 suggested in the past, but as this is the fs often suggested for the wartime "gris bleu claire" it might be a simplification. Personally I find this might too dark for the mirage undersides. Interestingly fs 35237 is often suggested too for the same colour and this might actually fit the mirage well enough, being a "bluer" blue grey, not too dark and not too light. While I'd look at this if I had to do the same plane, I agree with TEZ that is better pick a picture and follow that. Funny anyway that we have plenty of books and articles with conversion tables for every possible and impossible RLM shade and there's no sure conversion table around on modern french colours...
