Muller
Hi Britmodellers! I've decided to post a build report of my latest project. ICM 1/48 Yak-7A, with PE! Obligatory kit pic. Started the cockpit. Lots of PE detail in there. The levers are TINY! Lost one to the Carpet Monsters baldy cousin, the Tile Monster, it was impossible to find. I even took pics of the floor and zoomed in to look for it but I couldn't find it. It's my 1st time to use PE, my girlfriend came in to the kitchen to see what i was swearing at, she had to go get her glasses to see what all the fuss was about. I told her it's a model builders thing and that she wouldn't understand. She just walked back out shaking her head. LOL No pics of my progress yet, but the cockpit PE and kit parts are assembled and primed. I'm still in two minds about doing it in a white winter scheme with the skids fitted, or green/black camo scheme. I'm leaning towards green/black cos of the PE wheel details. Thanks for looking! Stebos
Aaargh pe! hmm does using the police forensic tactic of running a bunch of sticky tape over the floor ever rescue bits from the carpet monster? One of those lint roller things would be good for it I'm sure.
Muller
Me no like photoetch.... I pressed on with it anyway. Painted and weathered interior, it didn't turn out as nice as I'd hoped, ah well.... Fuselage halves together, wings fitted and tail done. This ICM kit isn't as nice as their Mig-3 to put together. Lots of filling and sanding to do. Still, I'm enjoying the build so far.
Muller
Hi, I got a bit more done. Fuselage together, wings on, filled and sanded. PE bits stuck on and primed, grey on top, white underneath (both rattle-cans) Thanks for looking!
Muller
More work done on this. Painted, decaled and weathered. Just the fiddly bits to stick on now. (And a few bits I'm not happy with to sort out) Thanks for looking!
Muller
Pretty much finished this now, all the fiddly PE bits stuck on, lost a few very small bits on the floor during the build. Can you buy mini metal detectors?? (note how the aerial wires pulled back the support when tightened with heat... ) I'll post some better pics in the ready for inspection area.
