Jazzy Jase
Well I finally finished my first kit without throwing it in the bin, despite giving up with the airbrush and finishing it by hand. It's an RAF chipmunk like the ones I used to fly as an Air Cadet out of Benson. I haven't applied any weathering because they were always very shiny in my memories of them as a teenager, but this is perhaps too shiny? I'll make another one once I'm comfortable using the airbrush. The transfers are a little thin and the red shows up through the white on the roundels, so I'll paint some white underneath them next time too. 'V'
Rather than paint white underneath the roundels I'd use white trim film cut into circles by a compass cutter. I don't use mine that often but it's a good tool to have. Geoff

MODeller
Great effort on what would today be classed as a "difficult" kit. Rather than use white decal backing to avoid "see through" I cut masks with compass cutter, to cover roundel areas, then spray red over that, easy way of making white edged Ripple roundels. I have started to do this on all my models now as it also gets around the problem of a "step" showing if Maskol has been used. MODeller

atdb27
Nice Chippy. Dont see Rivet detail like that these days! Used to be nice to work on these during ATC Camps at Coltishall. The pilot was a Warrant Officer no less. The only non commissioned jock I ever met. Adrian
