Col.
looking great my friend... loads of work in it........ Thanks mate, feels as if there's still as much to do though. A little more progress today, made and installed the radio gear in the rear 'pit. Hope to get a set of seat-belts made this evening, then I can install the seats and get back to fussing over the canopies.
Col.
Upon finishing my WREN figure for the Naval Forces GB I found this thing lurking near the workbench and began poking it to see if there was any life left. Got the seats and seat-belts in earlier and started thinking about the canopies again. Nothing worth photographing yet but might make a bit more progress tomorrow. Doug Rogers
Come on Col, you can finish this, I'd love to see this one done. It's fantastic work you're doing, especially with it being 1/72 scale.
Col.
Cheers Doug, spent the last couple days looking for my plastic card (who says house moving is stressful ) but now I can get some more airframe details added. Still a fair bit to do but hopefully this latest burst of enthusiasim will take her closer to being finished.
Doug Rogers
If you can get her to the ready for paint stage, you'll have cracked it. Once there's a bit of colour going on, they come to life a bit don't they.
Deon
love to see this finished, amazing detail work, my imaginary hat off to you Col.
Col.
There's still a lot of little bits to do before she'll get to that stage Doug but know what you mean. Still gives me time to decide if I'll use the kit decals or go aftermarket I suppose. Cheers Deon, love to see her finished myself after all this time. Got a little more done around the u/c lately, filling out the bays and getting started to a replacement set of doors.
Col.
Got the majority of the main u/c doors done, need to detail the gear legs now before I can build the attachment points. Also added the gunsight in the front cockpit. Once the glue has dried I'll get it finished and think about the canopies.

Lord Mureth
This looks amazing.... but next time you want to do a Firefly, just buy the Special Hobby one; it's sooooooooooooooo much easier!
Col.
Cheers chaps. Oh I can tell you for sure Lord Mureth, after this one is finished any further urges to build a Firefly will be well and trully quashed Another burst of enthusiasim saw me through constructing the gunsight and got the rear canopy glued down this evening. Hopefully dry-brushing the gunsight with dark grey will finish the pilot's cockpit and I can get the windshield on, thus taking her almost to the painting stage. JosephLalor
Fantastic work there, Col, some great scratchbuilding. Looking forward to seeing that completed. I put that kit together straight from the box and enjoyed it. I have the Special Hobby kit and it's nice, but I can't help feeling that the Airfix kit's prop is better. AnonymousFO98
only just discovered your build Col glad she didn't get launched from the deck of despondancy into the sea of oblivion. cracking suff. the hard work will pay off big time
Col.
Joseph; the prop is about the only part I haven't modified in this kit so far. Perhaps the solution would have been to stick on a Special Hobby kit and save myself a lot of work Walrus; nice analogy! She's come close to a cat launch a couple times but seem to be enjoying it depite - or perhaps because of - all the issues and work required. A little more filler went around the canopy this morning before work but seems I could do with a new tube, it's getting difficult to work and isn't keen to stick. Past it's sell-by date perhaps.
