AnonymousAA72
This model goes back a LONG way. Its the Revell fuselage , with the Matchbox nose grafted on. I know ther has been a bit of reference to this model in some of the other threads, so I thought I'd dig it out, clean it up and re-paint and re-decal it.... Col.
Guess you've done a bit of detailing to the 'pit and nose wheel bay here Bill. How did the mix of parts fit? Thinking of something similar myself so any advice would be most welcome

How did the mix of parts fit?Thinking of something similar myself so any advice would be most welcome Hi Col, actually I didn't add that much in the way of detail - I had planned on having the canopy fixed down. I'm also planning on using the Aeroclub vac-formed canopy - as opposed to the awful Matchbox part. The upper shape needed amending accordingly, as did The nose and rear caoming - in fact this may be Milliput(?). There was quite a step in front of the nose joint - which required a fair bit of sanding.... I'm planning on building another T-bird - maybe the unique T12, but I'll scratchbuild the nose from Milliput and Plastic card with an Aeroclub canopy (I did something similar 20 years ago using the Airfix FGA9!!).that should guarantee a decent conversion set from someone!!! Col.
Thanks for that Bill. Got a Matchbox kit in the stash and been trying to work out what's the path of least resistance; detail the kit parts or cross-breed it with a Revell. Think I'll go with the detailing option assisted by that Aeroclub canopy. Shame the Aeroclub T-bird fuselage is OOP, although I hear PJ Productions has a conversion in the works. Dare say it could save you a lot of Milliput for that T.12 I take it you're keeping the same colour scheme for this one? Want to do a RN T.8 soon myself after finding a photo of my dad standing in front of 'his' one so I'm looking to your build as inspiration. The Dayglo Orange is on too thick for me to do anything else!! I'll mask it off and spray the rest of the model with Citadel's Mithril Silver - I have the "Senior Service" decal sheet from Model Alliance, and there's some nice schemes in it - I'll probably go for the "Heron Station Flight" with the blue styilised Heron on the nose....mind you the Blue Admiral's Barge looks nice..........
