Graham
I made a complete foxes paw of the cannons so I ripped them out and started all over again so here we have the cannon version MkII and I think they look a lot better now. PHREAK
I've just posted a similar comment elsewhere... let's not bugger up Graham's thread though. No buggering up intended at all! Having met Mr Heritage yesterday at Kemble, I have to say that I'm amazed by his enthusiasm, just as I'm in awe of Graham's build and drive. Nah - wasn't having a go mate, just conscious of derailling such an interesting thread Ian's a nice guy... wish I'd stopped to chat to him at Telford now, but he was in mid-pitch to some guys about a Lanc
Graham
Hi guys I have to get into this Mossie thread I met Ian up at Perth and agree he's a nice guy. Here's an update just working on bringing both wings up to the same standard. I have riveted around the cannons, the holes in place for some Trumpy .303's and how the other wing will look hopefully Graham.
Mike
Lots of detail there Graham Do you have a moment of worry when you've finished one wing, as to whether youi'll be able to get the other one done to the same standard? I do, and then I usually go on to do a much better job on the 2nd wing, in half the time it took to do the first!
Graham
Yeah I agree Mike, I think it's a case of being so carefull on the first job and learning all the pitfalls and the second job is quicker and neater. JakeEaton
I've gotta say I do the same thing. I then usually go back and 'redo' the first half.

Jesus Graham now the wings are on you can clearly see what a monster that Mossie is and yes I mean that in a good way

Graham
Mucking around with the wings just now on how to fit them, I favour the tubes so this is first go. The next set of pics will hopefully have the finished wings held in place by the tubes as they won't be glued just yet as I want to be able to transport the beast. Graham
Here's a pic of both wings on (no glue) with aluminium tubing helping with the alignment, my master plan for the short term is to have the wings detachable for ease of transport. Col.
'Kin hell Graham, never realised quite how big she is 'til now! No wonder you're making the wings detachable.
Graham
Managed some work on the Mossie, the main wheels are now fixed in place with brass rod and both have oil tanks, the radio hatch and spar? on the fuselage and trying to blend in the rear of the nacelles and make the curves on the lower section using milliput and Mr putty also penciled in are the cannon shutes before cutting so making sure they are in the right place (this time). JakeEaton
Looking brilliant This is going to look SO good when painted up.
Graham
Well here she is and I am proud as punch, my first vac and the nerve-wracking bit over. The tubes are fitted in the wings so they can be separated with an acceptable gap and she is standing on the main gear for the first time totally unassisted, the tail wheel will be pinned later but now on to the tail feathers and getting the airframe ready for paint plus the wings are level yippee. I have to admit I got a hell of a rush when I took the photos as she is beginning to look every inch a Mosquito and to think around 6 months ago it was a shape on a sheet of plastic, well I hope you all like it as much as I do. JakeEaton
Well done G, I've said it all along....it looks brilliant. It really makes me want to have a go at a vac form kit (I've only ever used one vac form canopy) and is a real inspiration to modellers everywhere. I simply cannot wait to see her painted up. Honeybee
Hi Blooming brave of you to try something this big for a first attempt. I'm with you on the nerve wracking effects as I recently finished my first vac form, a slightly smaller 72nd Manchester. It was a great feeling to finally finish that so I can well imagine your chuffed-ness at this one, well done Regards Paul
