  1. Hi, It’s been a while since I last posted so I’d like share with you some photos of my recently completed Ju88 A-5. It’s built from the ICM 1:48 kit. This is the first of their range of Luftwaffe bombers I have built and I am very impressed. Excellent detail, great fit and all at a bargain price. I wanted to finish this model a little differently and chose a winter camo scheme – something like this aircraft would have seen in service on the Eastern Front. The pattern is based on giraffe skin (!) and was masked (slowly) using the blu-tak sausage method. Although probably not historically accurate I’m pleased with the way it came out and I feel it looks the part. The kit also comes with a pair of well detailed Jumo engines which I thought would be wasted under the cowlings so I opened the engine covers on one and completely removed the cowling panels on the other (a little surgery required here) to show them off. A bit of dry brushing and added plumbing and there we have it. Construction was without any major problems. Well detailed cockpit, detailed and sturdy landing gear, some nice engineering on the lower wing hides any joins under the engine nacelles. And the decals are OK too. ( I recently built an ICM Spitfire MkXVI whose decals were useless) For the glazing I used liquid mask, as some of the very small panes in the nose would be impossible to mask otherwise. All painting done with Gunze Acrylics and finished with a Flory Models wash. So, all in all, a very enjoyable build and I would thoroughly recommend this ICM kit. ( I also have their Do 215 – hope it’s as good.) Thanks for looking, Bob
  2. Hi everyone, Just finished this excellent kit in an incredible three weeks, extremely quick for me. Every thing just fell together, great fit, superb surface detail, I'm totally hooked on these Eduard Profipack kits. I used MRP paints, Alclad clear cotes, oil washes along with some pastels. Thanks for looking, any C&C welcomed, gazza l Just noticed I've forgotten to add the aerial to the fuselage!!!
  3. Hi, This is a 120mm figure from Andrea Miniatures painted in acrylics. Joseph
  4. Hi, This is my recent model - Fokker D XXI (IV Serje) No 5 (142) in Finish colours of 2/LeLv 30, pilot Sgt. A.Trikkonen, earaly 1942. This is biuld from Special Hobby 1/72 kit but not the scheme from box. Here is she: This is my second Fokker D XXI in my life. First I did (of course Frog) in 1973 so in age of 14 and I still have it. I only removed some dust and here are family photos: The Frog Fokker was not painted with varnish, so I am surprised that decals are still on not broken! After 45 years of standing on shelf. This was quality... Comments welcome Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
  5. Hello, I have finally finished one of my longest running models. I got this kit sometime in 2007. I was crazy about having this particular version of the T-34 when it came out, but now I don't remember why. It is one of the 1941 versions, with the small turret, single hatch, and 76 mm gun. I built a generic winter 1941/1942 machine which probably served in the Leningrad area. Its been so long since I built the model (I finished it years ago, and just painted it recently), that I don't recall much of the build. At its core it is the Dragon T-34. Lots of great details, lots of parts, TONS of options. Metal gun barrel, a good deal of PE, clear headlight lens. To those wondering, the rectangular boxes on the hull sides were wooden spare fuel tanks. The round drum tanks common to most Soviet tanks were not fitted to the T-34s from this particular factory. Paints are Tamiya white over MM Acryl Russian Green, various Vallejo browns on the tracks and details. Weathering done with three or four shades of brown washes, and two shades of pigments. I'm not 100% happy with the result, but I'm 100% thrilled to finally have this thing done, 10 years after purchase. One less large box in the stash! Sorry about the weird colors. Photos were taken indoors under crap lights.
  6. Moving this over from WIP to inspection time. There are more thoughts in the WIP on the kit. All in all - I really enjoyed it, until getting to the transparent parts - which I was not a great fan of. The scheme was marginally informed by archive photos, albeit with more of the winter camo remaining than I have seen anywhere. But I like the hairspray method, so went of piste a bit. Painting was rattle cans and brush work. Weathering (under the white) was oil-dot wash, and very thinned oil pin wash on top of white. Wing markings were painted on, and tail markings are leftovers from an old kit. Thanks for looking.
  7. Hey All Hot on the heels of my Bf 110 Nightfighter, I present to you Tamiya's Golden Oldie 1/35 Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.J. Enjoy... Yes, I know that the paint scheme, markings and composition of the model are all incorrect for the Ausf.J version, however, I have an excuse ready... This had started off with three tone camouflage and a full set of side and turret skirts. I wasn't happy with the way the camo turned out (making it up as I went along might have had something to do with it), so instead of respraying everything, I decided "what the hell, why don't I try a winter camo?" So lets just consider this a depiction of a generic, nondescript German tank roughing it out, somewhere on the Eastern front. What can I say about the build? Its a Tamiya kit, although an old Tamiya kit at that. Aside from a lot of mold lines to clean up, everything went smoothly. This build was 99.9% out of the box, with only a few small scratchbuilt items. Firstly everything was primed with Vallejo Panzer Grey Primer*. Initial camouflage consisted of Model Master Dunkelgelb, Olivegrun and Schokladnbraun. This was subsequently over sprayed with quite thin flat white, all the while attempting to keep it patchy and random. The tracks were painted with Tamiya Dark Iron, a colour I find perfect for tracks, exhausts and other things that have oxidized way past simple rust. The spare tracks however, were treated to a light wash of rust colors. The entire tank was given various washes/filters using Vallejo Grey and European Dust Washes to tone down the brightness of the white and further the streaky, rough, patchy look of the colour. Tools and other bits were painted with Humbrol Metalcote Gunmetal and various Vallejo colours. Recesses and details were picked out with MIG Productions Dark Wash. After a quick Google search for "Panzer IV, winter camo" I came across a profile that suited the build and cut the appropriate markings off the (quite old, but still usable) decal sheet. Now you can't have a German tank in the Russian winter without that beautiful, dark Russian mud. This was achieved with none other than MIG Productions Russian Earth pigment with a little Dark Mud for variation. After an initial coating of dry pigments, they were mixed with Vallejo Flat Varnish (the thick stuff, not the airbrush ready one) and slopped on with an old rough brush. Just enough to look muddy, but not so much as to obscure detail. With the weathering finished, the lower half of the tank was lightly sprayed with gloss varnish to give the mud a nice wet look, while the upper half was shot with flat varnish. Overall, quite pleased with this one. First time doing a winter scheme and first time doing thick mud. Bad camo job + white paint = pretty darn good looking winterized Panzer IV if I do say so myself *Note: With reference to Vallejo Polyurethane Acrylic Primers, you must, I stress must let these primers dry for at least a full day or two, or until they no longer give off a strong smell. I see too many people bashing these primers. They are quite good if you give them a chance and treat them properly. If you let the primer fully cure, not just dry but cure, you will have very little to no problems. Thanks for looking Regards ANS
