  1. Kinetic is to announce a brand new tool 1/48th modern jet a/c kit in ten days at the Shizuoka hobby Show 2015. Bets are off. To be followed V.P.
  2. Hello guys! Today I received this awesome kit, Kitty Hawk's DB Super Etendard in 1:48. As you can see, the box is full of plastic, most of that plastic is dedicated to the weaponry and fuel tanks. A small photoetch fret is included with the kit. Because I don't have a very good experience with Chinese decals, I bought two sheets from Calcas del Sur for the Kinetic SuE, but I assume they'll work just fine with this kit. Anyways, I hope to be able to post regular updates for this kit (I haven't seen many build reviews of KH kits on the internet).
  3. Hello guys, this is my first Kitty Hawk kit and, in spite of some fit issues and big ejector pin marks, it won't be my last. I'm eyeing their T-6/SNJ Texan to build it as an Argentinian aircraft. This SuE kit was the alternative to the scarce Kinetic model. The decals I used, from Calcas del Sur (48001), were very good, absolutely no issues when using them. They're a good alternative to the Aerocalcas and Condor Decals sets. Here are the photos.
  4. Hello guys, I finished my Super Etendard yesterday. I used Revell acrylics and a brush to paint the model.
  5. Hello guys, it's been a long time since I posted a WIP. I'll be building the most recent boxing of Academy's Super Ètendard in 1:72. I'll be using Aerocalcas's 72004 decal sheet to make this SuE as 3-A-202. The aircraft will be painted with Revell acrylics, with EDSG for the uppers and white for the lower surfaces.
  6. Continuing with the "Falklands/Malvinas" serie, the Super Etendard was the follow-up to the SHAR. It was my first Kittyhawk kit build. A nice kit in general terms, no big issues, a little bit of puty here and there but nothing terrible. Excellent decals! The main con about the kit was the vague and poor instructions. But with a great deal of patience and time (ohmmm) it worked out OK.
  7. Hello All, This is the KittyHawk Super Etendard kit built completely OOB. Paints used are locally available acrylics. Masking was done using my Kiddoo's Play Dooh. Few inaccuracies if I am being nit picky, do check your references for the decals and what loadout you want to use. The decals are very nice except for the flap walk markings. They are to be used if you model the aircraft with flaps up. If you choose to put the flaps down then you will have to cut the decal and then use it. The instructions don't mention anything on this. The Exocet Missile Pylon provided is not tall enough so much so that the fins touch the wings and thus cant be used without proper modification to increase the clearance. The bow in doors on the intakes are shown to be installed from the outside. IMHO I would suggest to install these from inside - gives a better fit. Overall the kit is superb with excellent details and good weapon options. Except for the few things which I noticed as mentioned. Do Comment for me to improve upon anything. Please do Subscribe as I would be coming up with more such Builds. Enjoy The Pictures.. . .
  8. This is an old kit, produced in 1986!! I will finish this in French Navy markings. Argentinian markings are too common. Cockpit is bare and empty! decided to do without photo-etch. I didn't even find replacements for this kit!. Quick scratch build for the TV screen. Followed images to paint the dials. This will be a CLOSED canopy. Quite a bit of filler was needed. Pictures i will use for reference while painting. As you can see its GRAY, NOT BLUE-GRAY. After the bottom was painted white. i masked up ready for the gray. Quite a tricky scheme. perfectly straight lines! White parts covered. Post painting and post shading. For the gray i used Gunship gray. Too dark??
  9. So, after Kinetic (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234981269-148-amd-ba-super-etendard-sue-super-etendard-modernise-sem-by-kinetic-released) and AMK (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234952903-amk-super-etendard-148), Kitty Hawk (aka Kitty Wok) has just announced another new tool 1/48th AMD-BA Super Etendard kit - ref. KH80138 Yes but... Why not an Etendard IVM or a Etendard IVP? Source: http://www.kittyhawkmodel.com/#!kh80138/o5uzg Box art For the producers, if you're going French, be aware there's no modern 1/48th kits from: - MD.450 Ouragan - MD.454 Mystère IV - AMD-BA Super Mystère B2 (SMB2) - SO.4050 Vautour IIA/B/N - Dassault Mirage IV - Br.1050 Alizé - Dassault Mystère/Falcon 20 - MS.760 Paris - Nord 2501 Noratlas - NH-90 TTH/NFH Caiman - SA.316 Alouette III - SA.330 (Super) Puma, AS.532 Cougar, EC.725 Caracal - SA.341/342 Gazelle - SA.321 Super Frelon etc. V.P.
  10. Here`s another model from my Falklands collection - Argentine Super Etendard in 1/72. Made from old Academy`s kit. Eduard`s PE set was used. Some modifications have been made: nose is a little longer and has a bigger angle, Exocet`s pylon is taken from Heller`s kit, ladder and the electronic pod under the fusselage were self-made, flaps were cut off etc. Decals are mix of Academy, DP Casper and Xtradecal sets. It`s my interpretation of Super Etendard number 3-A-202 before Exocet attack, May 1982. Best regards, Alex
  11. Welcome to my corner of the Bastille for the Britmodeller French Fancy Group Build! This is basically the old Heller/Airfix SuE, with quite a few bits of resin (of which more later), non-coloured etched brass, and decals for a single aircraft (#17, 17 Flotille) at two points in its career: one from BAN Landivisiau in August 2010 in the customary two-greys scheme, and one from Kandahar during its tour in June-July 2008 in a single-grey colour. Unfortunately, this makes for a very expensive package for an older kit –even the desperate throat-cutters on eBay won’t drop one for much under UK£55, but I really, really love the wee beast, so I hope a breath of sea air (from Afghanistan, yes...) will be well received in our little sewing circle! Having a Neomega cockpit to hand already, I picked up an ExtraTech brass package to fizz the thing up a bit more, foolishly thinking it would be a straight scale-up of their 1/72 outfit. It isn’t –the funky intake covers are missing for a start. Never mind, onwards and downwards...
  12. This is the Academy 72nd scale kit the decals are a mix from Carpena , Aifix and Model Art . the LGB is from Hasegawa weapon set VI Barax and Phimet from the old Heller weapon set . This model depicts an aircraft from operation Trident the French involvement of the ,kosavo campaign. Hope you like it Glenn.
  13. After a cursory look through Airliners, Google Images and this fine organ, I wondered if someone could help me out out on a couple of things. Am I right in saying that the grill-type shaped things atop the wings forward of the flaps are actual spoilers/ dive brakes? Would anyone know where I could get a photo of these from? Finally, is the large rounded-conical drop tank(?) that is sometimes used on the centreline, available anywhere (in 72nd)? Is it actually a drop tank?
  14. Hello, I have been a fan of this aircraft always .I found this kit from my friend Bob Hanes. Decided to build it in Frech Naval camo scheme. I wanted to place a pilot in the cockpit. Used the trumpeter pilot from F-16 kit. Had to cut the legs and arms to make him fit in the cockpit. Fit was not that great. There was a gap on both sides of the wing fuselage interface. Putty was used to fill the gap. I used Medium grey and dark grey acrylic paints for the camo.Used to bluetac for masking. Used the decals provided and weathered with oil and sealed with future.I am pleased with the effect . Please let me know ,how you guys like it. Thanks
  15. Hi Britmodeller, My second contribution. The Super Etendard from the Argentine Navy. Armed with the famous AM39 Excocet. After the latest data information in regards to target, this missile is released from the AC at approx. 45 km from the target. Full information on target acquisition and flight profiles can be found in the book "Wings of the Malvinas" from Santiago Rivas. Highest Regards, Dirk
