  1. This is Revell's original issue Type VIIc U-boat in 1/144. I replaced the ladders and tower handrails with brass wire, thinned the kit winter garden and hull handrails, detailed the guns, and removed the round sockets that were molded on for the winter garden rails. Thanks for looking, Colin Here's the Type VIIC with my recently completed Type IXb ...
  2. Hello fellows, This is my last project: the Spanish mini-submarine Tiburón ("shark") class SA-51. (From wikipedia) With a crew of five men, Tiburon-class submarines were intended to carry out week-long missions, would be ideal for operating in shallow waters and carrying special forces behind the enemy lines. They were equipped with a greater accommodation than the preceding Foca-class, with a bathroom and two bunk beds, which allowed the crew to rest in "hot bed" shifts. The design was based upon the German minisubmarine Hai-class. The submarines had two diesel engines (115 HP) and two electric engines (110 HP). The armament was two torpedoes. The sail was larger than the previous class which helps in the surveillance tasks. The submarines were armed with two 533 mm tubes capable of carrying G7a or G7e torpedoes. The Tiburón-class had only two units, SA-51 and SA-52, but despite an improved version of the previous class, never got to join the navy. The submarines were in the Naval Week of Barcelona in 1966, one of them, SA-52, arrive from Cartagena on her own. The SA-52 come back to the Isaac Peral Naval Base in Cartagena. On May 9, 1986, the SA-51 submarine was donated to the La Caixa Foundation for its science museum, now called "CosmoCaixa", in Barcelona. The submarine is on display in front of the museum entrance, as you can see in the next picture: (The vertical clear parts, are intended to see the inside...). The kit is made from Mikro-Mir, in 1/144. A too small scale, since the real submarine is barely 19 metres. Hence, it was a quick build... All the parts needed to be sanded, and you have to be very caerful, because the plastic is very weak. I could'nt use the PE parts (too small...), But, anyway, I'm glad for the result, and having this little sub at home. I hope you like it. Thanks for watching, ...and your comments will be welcomed! Josep
  3. Hello fellow modelmakers! I've recently started a new project: the 214 Class submarine, from Revell in 1/144. This is the boxart: The build is straighforward, and in few steps you have an idea of the size... The model, isn't precisely small. I love it. I did a first test of the periscopes, snorkel, etc. displayed at the top of the sail: Revell offers the choice of displaying all of them, (...seven in total), or show all closed. If you chose the first option, the observation hatch also remains open. Below, both pieces. But I think submarines never display all this instruments alltogether at same time. So, I decided to show only: the snorkel, one antenna (instead of two possibles), the radar, and two periscopes (instead of three). And also, the observation hatch closed. Then, I did a mix between both pieces, in order to get my goal. Below the result. Alon all the model, there are several gaps to fill in. For this, I use Tamiya Putty, after masking with tape: After sanding the putty, I put the rest of small pieces (bollards, pennants, etc...), and the model was ready for a first coat of primer: This, is after the airbrushing the primer: And this, is after a first layer of paint. The colour has not yet been decided, It might be darker. I hope you like it. See you soon, and thanks for watching!
  4. Hi dear britmodellers today i want share to you the Revell Type 206A submarine U-25, which was used in December 2011 for blast attempts, i hope thats the right english word for it. It means the WTD 71( Bundeswehr Technical Center for Ships and Naval Weapons , made tests to see what happened with the body of the submarine when it gets shockwaves of an close under water explosion. At the latest test in january 2012 the auxiliary pressure tubes rip off and the submarine sunk, later on they lift up it again and sold it in 2019 to a old metal dealer to wreck off. I made some scratch works, as you can see. Primer is Chaos Black by Citadell. Then oxydred primer by Vallejo painted in Gunze H 462 Blackbrown UNIT laid down launched commissioned converted to 206A decommissioned fate S 174 FGS U25 July 1, 1971 May 25, 1973 June 14, 1974 08/1988 - 06/1990 January 31, 2008 laid up ( sold to a wreckdealer in 2019 ) Copyright by Carsten Rehder and Frank Behling via dpa ( Deutsche Presse Agentur )
  5. Hello seamen After i posted the most modern U-Boat from today the Class 212 A, i want even posting the msot modern U-Boat from WWII era, the Type XXI. This type of U-Boat was the first one you can calling it submarine, all U-Boats before it was just diving boats, or Torpedo boats it can diving. All U-boats round the world what developed after the WWII in the 50th and 60th based on this type. As all submarines in the scale of 1/144 this model kit have a small amount of parts, i like it coz i get quickly to my passion painting and weathering. By the way, i used for the paint job salt technic even hairspray technic too. the black water pass is wrong, no Type XXI got this black band around the fuselage, it was just a free way of my art coz i like it.😊 so here we go Cheers Werner
