  1. Following on from our Rod, Tube and Wire Store we've just introduced a new unit aimed at storing sheet materials such as plasticard, card and brass. It also has sections for storing strip materials. The Sheet Store has a range of slots, varying in depth so that sheets can be stored even after they have been partially used. There are three drawers and an open tray to enable the storage of smaller bits. We can also supply the Storage Tubes to protect thin strips of material from low flying plastic aircraft and tanks and to stop you getting poked in the eye!
  2. There are many times at exhibitions where we've heard people say that they love our products but they don't have a workshop. Well, we're now working on a range of travel cases. It's early days but we thought you'd like to see what we're working on and feel free to chip in with thoughts and ideas. The initial thoughts are to produce cases based around A3 and A4 cutting mats, i.e. the removable front will be sized so that it can support a mat. The interiors of the cases will be customisable to cater for the different paint mixes people use and personal requirements. Drawers will be available to store the paints as per the existing range and also in plain format. Cases will have a carry handle. No decision has been made on the material yet, either MDF or plywood. Ply is lighter but more expensive and crucially not usually flat unless braced. MDF weighs a bit more, isn't as strong but is normally flat, or at least the wood we've been getting is. Here's an early build of an A3 sized case. Whilst the frontal area is just over A3 size, the depth is around 185mm.
  3. Currently in development we have a unit designed to hold material stock such as plastic strip, rods, tubes and wire. The unit is intended to sit either alongside or on top of our existing units. As always we're open to suggestions, particularly at this, the development stage.
  4. Two drawer paint storage unit for 36ml Bottles EBMA Hobby & Craft We all have a larger stash of paint than we think we have, and finding storage for it is not always easy. There are the vertical racks (Which EBMA do as well) however some of us (me included) prefer drawers for paint. EBMA have created their own line of racks, drawers and tool storage etc made from MDF that are pre-cut ready for assembly. These are designed for the typical bottles used by Gunze and Tamiya and hold 33 bottles per drw, so 66 in total Filled with my Gunze paints to give an idea of use Construction is simple, and will require some PVA to glue the sections together, and having some clamps handy will be a boon for getting strong joints. The joints will also be stronger if you use proper woodworking PVA glue, which can be sourced online easily and cheaply if you’re in need. Instructions are found online to save paper and cost, and yes you do really need to look at them. If you have built any kind of flat pack you already know this! This set like many others from EBMA comes with little magnets which you can use for to keep more than one of their modular units together. Conclusion This is a well designed storage system for all modellers which will help keep your paints where you want them, with the added advantage they fit together. EBMA also do a wide range of these for most of the paint bottles/jars currently available. Very highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  5. This week we're introducing a new storage unit to house the Zero Paints bottles, both 30ml and 60ml. We've produced a drawer for each and the two drawer unit can be ordered with two drawers the same or one of each. Each 60ml drawer holds twelve bottles and the 30ml drawer holds eighteen.
  6. I’ve built this over the last couple of days. It has storage for 150 Vallejo paints as well as some other odds and ends. The shelves are angled back so help the paints remain in place. I’m thinking of making a few of them to sell, so have a look and give me your feedback. And this is what it looks like with my paints in place. Manynthanks for looking. Mark
  7. My collection of ship photo's and images is getting a little out of hand at the moment; I have hundreds, probably thousands, of photo's spread across different hard-disks and folders, plus I suspect I have duplicated them more than once! I tried a photo album programme once but it searched the whole system and sucked in virtually every .jpeg and dumped them into one big album - this is what I do not want. Can anyone recommend any digital photo albums available that would allow me to: save my images to a specified repository have the facility to record the name, date, subject etc. let me allocate a reference/index number have the facility to cross-link details to a database for reference cheers Mike

    Storage Rack

A little while ago someone put on here links to a cheap perspex nail varnish rack that looked like they might be suitable for paints. Unfortunately they weren't, but being dirt cheap, no problem. I have now purchased a couple of these : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NAIL-POLISH-DISPLAY-STAND-HOLDS-APPROX-70-BOTTLES-HIGH-QUALITY/321210283070?_trksid=p3693.c100102.m2452&_trkparms=aid%3D333008%26algo%3DRIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140212121249%26meid%3D000e4588aab442b08463160a16962d1b%26pid%3D100102%26prg%3D20140212121249%26rkt%3D4%26 which arrived yesterday. Have to say well impressed. Just big enough to get my Tamiya bottles in which are the biggest I have. NOt cheap, but still reasonable and looks a bit neater than the CNC ply ones I was originally considering.
  9. At the end of last year when I got back into modelling I bought an airbrush and compressor. I tested it and then dried it and put it away for a week or two until my new bench was ready. Then we decided to move. The short story is, I now do not have the space to use it (4 people in a 2 bedroom bungalow does not make for lots of hobby space) So, in that it will.be stored for at least a year, is there anything I should do to it? Shoot some sort of lubricant through it and leave it like that? What about the compressor and tank? Thank you for any tips on keeping it in hood condition.
