  1. Morning all, Build number eight for the year is a subject I'm incredibly fond of, the epic Rafale Marine. Base kit is the rather average Hobby Boss kit, which isn't particularly accurate in places and isn't the best fit in areas too, one of the reasons I chose not to enter into the Navy GB in case I made a mess of it... I've built it as it comes from the box, warts and all- I made a right mess of the canopy so please don't look too closely..... Finished using Hataka Orange Line- there's always a lot of contention over French colours, but I found on this build that Light Ghost Grey
  2. Revell Scale: 1/48 Type: Dassault Rafale M Extras used: Eduard GBU-12 bombs, Renaissance MICA EM missiles. Paints and colours used: Mainly Vallejo with AK Xtreme metals where appropriate. Flory Dark Dirt Wash, various oils, Alclad II Aqua Gloss, Tamiya Matt varnish and Flory weathering sponge. Hi again! I'm spamming today, got a few finished off and photographed... So, this is another one I finished a little while ago but only just had a chance to photograph. A lovely kit, only issue is really is around the air intakes. Also the missiles aren't great d
  3. Hi guys, this is my last finished model. This is very good Revell's Rafale C in 1/48 scale. The kit has been known for years. In this year Revell issued a re-release to build version C. This is very good kit, couple of problems during the build. I added a lead wire for imitation wires in the landing gears. I also add Eduard's Storm Sadow missiles and Eduard Rafale M painting masks. Model was painted with Gunze H, Tamiya and Vellejo paints (details in cockpit). Exhaust nozzle I painted the exhaust nozzles with Alclad Jet exhaust color.
  4. Second in my 'clearing the decks build log' (the first of which went back on the shelf) is this 1/48 Rafale in probably my favourite Rafale special scheme, which has been sitting on my shelf of doom for around a year. It's the Hobbyboss kit along with Syhart decals. The kit itself is pretty decent though I did have minor trouble aligning the landing gear and refuelling probe, the former due to somewhat crude moulding and the latter because it's default position is a little off and needed some correction. The Syhart decals however were beautiful. Really thin and lay flat very easily
  5. Having already edited Rafale B and M kits in 1/48th Revell has surprisingly not yet in its range the most produced variant I mean the single-seat Rafale C. This will be done in 2018. Don't forget the Korean mix (B+M=C !) edited once upon a time by the Revell plastic injection contractor: ACE (Link) - ref. 3901 - Dassault Rafale C Source: https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/RV3901 V.P.
  6. Rafale must be one of the most elegant fighter of the world, may be due to this fact, it's rarely to see a dirty looking work. As far as I am concerned, there is no clean marine plane on the earth, so this is what happened...... Rafale can carry two MBDA apache like this, however it seems that uncommon showed on any loadout chart....... By the way I'm not sure whether the fuel tanks can carry like this...... I didn't glued the fuel tanks
  7. Hi everyone. Here's my attempt to dignify my long awaiting french beauty.
  8. ....and now for something completely different! The Eye of the Tiger This small rendition of the french superjet is by far the newest and best kit in 1:72. But there are surprisingly many faults and the jet is partly undersized. That did hurt and i spent 130 hrs on that. It was in ModellFan 2016/05. But everytime i look at, it i get some Tiger in my Tank!
  9. Good morning, I'm about to get the infos for one of my next projects - a Rafale B or C, used in the operation "Harmattan" for hitting the bad guys. After some research on the net, I got to following points: Scalp: used by navy (one each aircraft) or air force (two each aircraft, later reduced to one). Along with two large tanks, 4 MICA, no other pods. Air Force used scalps only on two-seater. As only 15 scalps were used - has anyone the list of the aircraft which fired those? AASM: usually 4 per aircraft, two to three tanks, 4 MICA, and again, mostly no pod, since they are INS/GPS-Guided G
  10. Tiger Meet 2017. Brittany, Rafale, F-16, Rafale, F/A-18, Rafale, Gripen, Rafale, Gazelle, Rafale... And also some Rafale.
  11. Hello, This is the beautiful Revell Rafale M converted into a Rafale C. There are many details to modify but the most important is the landing gear. Hope you like it, cheers
  12. LGL Maquettes (http://lglmaquettes.com/) and MustHave are to release in late May 2016 a 1/48th Dassault Rafale C resin conversion set for the Revell Rafale M kit - ref. Source: http://fighters.forumactif.com/t77568-conversion-rafale-c-sur-base-rafale-m-revell-1-48 V.P.
  13. Let's have a look at the following Ebay offers: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-48-ACE-DASSAULT-RA...=item414f8fd970 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-48-ACE-RAFALE-B-AR...=item3effce1f85 A Korean reboxing from the 1/48th Revell kits. Anyway the price - P&P incl. - is rather attractive respectively £25.86 and £17.45! Also a Rafale C mixing the B and the M parts! - ref.1203 - Rafale M - ref.1205 - Rafale B - ref.1206 - Rafale C V.P.
  14. Some time ago I bought a unboxed Rafale from Ebay for a pittance, not sure if it ever had any decals or I lost 'em. But to save wasting a kit I ended up buying some after market decals from Syhart(via Hannants). This is probably false economy as the decals cost about 3 times what I paid for kit , but anyway .......... The kits not bad actually with plenty of detail and goes together well. Decals sre superb and you could actualy build three examples from the decals supplied..........obviously I went for the one with the flashy tailfin(although you only get 2000ltr tanks with the kit which wer
  15. Good afternoon, the Rafale has been finished a few days ago, and today I took the pictures. It's one of the Rafales which did the first live shooting of a Scalp cruise missile in Libya, March 23 2011. The kit is from Hobby Boss, it's ok as a base, but some things need to be changed, as they are not 100% accurate. It's still not, as I left some minor things out like the shell shute for the gun. The cockpit has been upgraded with the Eduard set, and the decals are from the excellent Syhart sheet. Colour was mostly revell light grey, which I think looks nice. Nose gear with some brake wir
  16. Ah, la France! Le Camembert, le Bordeaux, le Moulin Rouge, la Guillotine, la bombe atomique... et le seriously armed Rafale, ready to kick some bad guys buttocks! So, I decided to build a Rafale, as employed over Libya 2011. I wanted to build one of the Rafales which delivered the Scalps (the French Storm Shadow). For that, I will use the well-known Hobby Boss kit, which is not bad, but has some points to be corrected. I will also use a small PE-set from Eduard for the cockpit, and the excellent decal sheet from Syhart. For Reference, I will stick to another typical french item, the comic bo
  17. Hello, i finished this model 2 weeks ago. I used the Salt technic (first time !) also i made a HUD. The model is painted with Gunze paints (H307,H306,SM04,MC214 and few others) I hope you'll enjoy !
  18. Dassault Rafale B No.336 / 113-IK of EC 1/91 ‘Gascogne’, Armee de L’air Saint-Dizier, 2009. Hobbyboss kit with excellent Syhart decals (Sheet 72-915). Based on one of the aircraft that attended Yeovilton Air Day in 2009 (though without the live MICA and SCALP-EG missiles!) Aircrew came from the Hasegawa F-16 kit. I used them to show an ‘engines running’ configuration so that I could leave the foreplanes horizontal which helps to give the Rafale its good looks. There’s lots of detail on production standard Rafale Bs that needs careful study of photos – I probably haven’t got it all righ
  19. There are some great photos of this exercice over on the USAF website: http://1.usa.gov/1XYNPnu
  20. I have two old Italeri Rafale-M kits that are known for their inaccuracies, incorrect raised panel details and poor fit. Besides, these two kits share one set of transparencies ( read - one sprue is lost ) I don't want to spend much time to build accurate replicas of this beautiful aircraft, neither I want these kits to be in the stash forever so I decided I will quickly build them in "What If" scheme where accuracy does not mean much. The stories: In growing tension of looming Cold War 2 it became evident that the fixed wing of newly deployed HMS "Queen Elisabeth" and HMS "Prince Of Wales
  21. Dassault Rafale M – 11F Aeronavale Landivisiau, Brittany, 2015 1/72 Heller kit updated to current version – Syhart decals This one started life as a 15 year old Heller kit. Thanks to the superb Syhart decal sheet No 72-915 ‘Rafale B/C/M Standard Markings’ I was able to rescribe and update the kit. This was a bigger task than expected (as usual!) and included the addition of all sensors, ECM, chaff/flare dispensers, etc. Pylons and drop tanks came from the Hobbyboss Rafale B kit which was on the workbench at the same time. I must admit I didn’t add ALL the stencils provided by Syhart –
  22. Dassault Rafale M Revell 1:48 The Dassault Rafale is a new-generation ultra-modern twin-jet combat plane. It meets the combat requirements for the next century, combining in a single plane the multiple roles that otherwise would be carried out by many different types. The Rafale M is the carrier-borne naval version equipped with a reinforced undercarriage for catapult launching. Equipped with two SNECMA M88-2 engines (each with 75 KN thrust) the Rafale reaches a speed of Mach 2. Its long range, enormous load-carrying capacity, precision fire control and survivability give the Ra
  23. As I was unable to make either Friday or Saturday at Yeovilton I decided to try and catch some departures. The original plan was to go on Monday but when I heard these two were leaving on Sunday my mind was made up. As usual, you stand in sunshine all morning then as soon as these two start up it clouds over.
