  1. Hi all, I’m currently in a beaufighter build - 1/32 Revell and Interior features are pretty lame to say the least. I have a model monkeys pilot cockpit and entrance/radio Resin section which has loads of detail and features but am now onto the observer/radio operators area and I’m looking for photos and details to help scratch build up this area (as assume no kits exist) including so I can open up the access hatch and the observer Perspex any info and details would be much appreciated thanks in advance
  2. Hi everyone! just got accepted in and thanks to all! Excited to get advice and tips and look forward to great discussions I’m currently in a beaufighter build - 1/32 revel and Interior features are pretty lame to say the least. 3. Luftwaffe FuG16 Antennae (648331) 1:48 Eduard Brassin Many German WWII fighters carried a FuG 16 VHF radio, which necessitated carrying an aerial under the wing. You often see them depicted as single plastic parts in kits, but if you were to look closer you would see a rectangular base with a clear isolator between the airframe and the antenna. Eduard As usual with Eduard's resin sets, they arrive in the familiar Brassin clamshell box, with the resin parts safely cocooned on dark grey foam inserts, and the instructions sandwiched between the two halves, doubling as the header card. Inside are three antennae on a single casting block, plus a small fret of brass for the bases, each of which have a hole in the (nearly) centre to accept a small piece of the included acetate sheet. A 0.8mm hole is drilled in the centre of the clear part, and the antenna is inserted, gluing with a non-fogging adhesive, and ensuring that the curved tip faces backwards. Review sample courtesy of
  4. I am doing a Mk I circa June 1940 - 74 sqn. Photos show the early aerial (striaght pole) but I cant find a sutable referance photo of the cockpit to show me what it looks like. I beleive it was on the port side) A lot of phots show the later radar with the 2 rows of push button and it is evident from the cannon trigger that the aircraft is a Mk V or higher in these photos
  5. As Pro Art have gone out of business and it's getting harder to find their excellent modern radio sets I decided to order the Blast Models "MRAP" radio set. Now I'm no expert on the technicalities of modern radios and can't even identify all the components. However a lot of the newer kits come with very spartan interiors but tons of aerials so I like to add some radio gear on the inside. I won't claim to get it right or accurate but it looks good to me. Anyway, this set arrives in a small ziplock bag with very thin pour blocks which snap off easily. The details look crisp and there is hardly any flash. To me they look the business. Just need to build something to put them in now. While I was at it I also ordered Blast's set of Pelican cases and cooler boxes One can never have too much stowage in the spares box. Don't know how I will pant this to look like water bottles in ice though
  6. Hi all! Like the last couple of posts I'm an aviation modeller, but am planning and collecting material for a diorama involving a jeep and 1 or 2 trucks. My question is what types of radio equipment was fitted to or carried in jeeps in the South-West Pacific Theater between about August 1942 and August 1944. The diorama will be a scene from northern Australia if that helps. Thanks in advance for any help! Dennis The Bear
  7. I'm on the last stages on my build and want to add the radio whip aerial, IFF blade antenna, and the “Rebecca” Beam-approach aerial. What I would like to know is the length of the radio aerial and IFF antenna. Also would the IFF and beam approach be painted in the underside colours, the RAF museum example has yellow IFF and the beam approach seems to have a black body and yellow aerial, is this likely ? Also does anyone have any dimensions for the beam approach body ? Cheers Dennis
  8. Hello there, I would like to ask you, if you have a picture or drawing showing opened hatch for radio on starboard side of the fuselage behind cockpit. Not necessarily interior with the radio, but at least inner side of the covering panel and how much is the panel sloped when opened. I just started 1/72 Whirlwind from Special hobby and I would like to add some detailing :-) I will post pictures from the build later in proper topic. Thanks in advance
