  1. Hi All, Here's my attempt at Special Hobby's Martin Maryland, presented as AH284 of 39 Sqn RAF, North Africa 1942. I do not have any reference pics for the aircraft in the desert scheme as presented, so it's a bit of a 'what if'. I fought this kit kicking and screaming through the latter stages, and found it all a bit of a struggle with poorly fitting parts (particularly the engines). Here's the WIP thread : Despite all the trials and tribulations I'm not displeased with the final result - it has undeniable 'shelf presence' and I'm glad I gave it a crack. Anyway, here she is - comments and critique welcome as ever: Here's a couple of shots with a Blenheim for scale: Thanks for looking, Roger
  2. Having found a part started 48th scale Airfix Lynx at the back of the stash cupboard I decided to press on and do a bit more to it. Now dont get me wrong the build starts off wonderfully, but as soon as you get to the gazzillion parts that make up the engine and filter housing omg nothing wants to fit without mega gaps, and it seems the same with the nose. Is this the reason they always seem to be reduced because they are such a PITA to put together? Now to press on and finish it or banish it back into the depths of the stash cupboard.
  3. This blighter has been on and off the bench for over a year now, After a nightmare getting the aires pit to fit, and sorting the isracast resin bits out parts started to go missing. The tip pylons and brass nose probe have both fallen victim to the monster. painted using approximate shades of vallejo model air, and masked using a j'swork mask set. unfortunately the j's masks for the tail art and insignia are too small but they were done by the time i realised. so another nail in the coffin of the sufa. I experimented using a different ink for the pre shading and its bled through in places making the paintwork look a bit mouldy and i must admit im not really happy with it at all. Anyway time for some photo's taken with a galaxy note for ease of uploading. might try and get some photo's in daylight. so all in all a great kit, some great extras, let down by my loss of motivation and then half hearted intermittent finishing of the build. this is why i try sticking to 1/72 scale.
