  1. Greetings. My participation in this Group Build will serve little purpose other than to counterbalance the landslide of Eduard masterpieces taking part and to get rid of some loft insulation. The starting point is that old pony, OEZ Lethorad's MiG-21 MF/SMT/bis, which for years has been the only way to represent a late model Fishbed. For those unfamiliar with its appearance: (Clicking on the images above will lead you to a high-res version). The optional canopies: The surface detail: The external loads: Other than some well documented problems with the shape (wrong fuselage section, canopy size, and tail surfaces sweep) and fit (multiplied sevenfold if you're doing a bis or SMT), the kit has an odd feature in which all the mating surfaces of the wings and tail fin have an inner ridge that will prevent you from getting the right section. To my knowledge there is only one way to overcome this: Before and after: Before and after - the outcome: One of the MiGs will be all buttoned up, undercarriage included, so I did the wings as well: And that's all for today...
  2. This thread will be about the Testors classic SNJ Texan, originally a kit from Hawk. The main reason I went for this kit is that it reminds me of my Top-Flite AT-6 Texan. My main hobby is R/C flying and so the plastic kit building is secondary and mostly a winter activity (not very often good flying conditions in Norway in the wintertime. Dark, cold, wet, windy. Sounds nice, hmm?) Pics of the inspiration: Here is the Testor kit: Onepiece wing, benches instead of seats, quite charming actually. The fit is not bad but i used some filler on the wing and tail + the holes for the landing gear. I will do it gear up. Progress so far:
  3. Hello All, I'm going to be building the Frog Westland Wyvern: The kit has side consoles, floor, seat (or throne?), stick, instrument panel, nice wheels and detail on the inside of the undercarriage doors - pretty fancy for a kit from 1970! However, Trumpeter did a newer and more detailed version recently and the rules is the rules... I am intending to detail the cockpit and wheel wells, do some light scribing and possibly drop the flaps. My main objective is to do a decent paint job and make the Sky/EDSG scheme look less slab-like than it normally does in my hands. The decals are a tad yellowed and I don't think I will see much full sunlight in the next few months, so I may re-print some of the letters and numbers. Well, can't sit here typing - there's modelling to do! Thanks for looking, Adrian
