  1. My workshop has temporarily limited operational capabilities: the paint shop is closed due to numerous equipment failures. I wrote a letter to Santa Claus, demonstrating beyond any doubt that I had been good all year long and deserved a brand new, shiny airbrush. My wife promised to deliver the letter to the addressee. Therefore, there is reason to believe that one of the hardware problems will be solved in the last days of December 😉. There is still the issue of compressor repair, which unfortunately is going worse. Anyway, I can't paint old things for now, so I started building new ones. A construction mech has been on my mind for a long time: an excavator or some sort of demolition machine from the near future, with legs instead of tracks. The thing is supposed to be in the mecha style: a robot with an operator inside. I'm not sure that mecha doesn't only apply to armed vehicles, but I don't feel like making another military thing. Make walls, not war 😉. Construction started about two weeks ago. This is the operator's cab "kit": plastic cosmetic jar and acrylic Christmas bauble. I have several such baubles. This is a semi-finished product for making your own decorations. It used to be perfectly transparent, but I dulled it with sandpaper. For now, I only want to use half of the bauble. I glued the HIPS floor inside. This can be seen, although somewhat blurred, in the photo below. Several rings of different shapes will form the control panel around the operator's seat. On the lower right is the front cockpit panel. I glued this to a piece of a photo etched part that used to be the tank's mud guard. The operator's seat is carved from 3mm thick HIPS. First steps to building the leg drive module. And the first steps in building the legs. I decided to connect the operator's cab and the drive module with neodymium magnets. On the one hand, it will facilitate further construction and painting, on the other: the cabin will be able to be rotated around its axis. From my experience, glue is not enough to properly attach the magnet. The most durable method is to attach it using Milliput, preferably in such a way that both magnets are separated by the plastic to which they are attached. This is what the cabin module, connected to the drive module, looks like at this stage. The jar made from polyethylene was sanded and covered with a HIPS strip. I want to avoid a mishap as when building a spaceship for Above Karman Line GB. There, I skipped the step of covering the polyethylene with polystyrene and ended up with peeling paint. Thanks for watching. Wiesiek.
  2. This is the Otis M Mecha which I bought the stl files from Industria Mechanica and printed. There were over 80 files in the set and it took me about a week to print including short-shots and replacements. It was was first serious sojourn into 3D printing with my Longer Orange but I enjoyed t and it was relatively easy to do, Anyhows having printed (bagged and tagged here under) and cleaned alot of the parts I came to the conclusion that I didn't want a standard Mecha with feet and wheels. I also had serious issues getting the pelvis printed. In the end I just took the best of a bad lot and milliputtied the gaps. This and the gatling gun were the most troublesome parts to print. I decided to do a static mecha in a bunker-AAA type setting. Above the packing materials form the 3D printer and an old lid of a pot. What you are looking at is the midsection of the mecha heavily modified to act as the body with retracted legs. All of the pimping and extra detailling has been coverd with a layer of MrSurfacer to even out some of the detail. I added alot and there is more to come in the form of piping and cabels. The cockpit was pretty dull out of the printer with little detail so I went nuts inthere adding in stuff most of which will be hidden .......... The vision port on top of the roof is the intake form a 1:48 Hurricane and most of the detail is just Evergreen. I will add more during the weekend as I am further along than what I show above. Regards Brian
  3. Here's my first GB entry on Britmodeller. It's made by Industria Mechanica out of the US. There's not a whole lot of parts to the resin kit which is one of its appeals. First thing I've done is started by painting the cockpit pieces in XF-71 and the engine in silver. More to come I guess Carl
  4. Finally got some paint on the MEGA 1/48 kit – so that it's not just all white. Some black pre-shading and then white over that. I then masked off a bunch of parts and sprayed various shades of gray. Followed that up w/ a layer of Future gloss and am working through the many decals now! Speaking of decals... Does anybody have a sheet of the decals for this kit that they're not using? PLEASE!?!??!? I tore a few and it's going to drive me crazy if I don't find replacements. I'm building the "GFT" version of the Mega 1/48 kit. I would be more than happy to pay you for them if you're willing to send them my way! Thanks for reading and happy building to all.
  5. After a long break i started a new kit. Actually i'm not a big fan of patlabor anime's but i love this one. The kit has got a lot of details, very soft plastic ( careful for sanding), but especially arm joints looks weak, and i dont like the cover material for leg&arm sections
  6. And its done i've been awarded second place with this build @ Scale Models World competition in Turkey Here is the wip topic and final pictures
  7. My latest build is the 1/100 Dragon Momoko testament Gundam, just a simple build and re paint although I did try out some flip flop colour change paint, the green and purple has worked out well it just difficult to show in the pictures. All comments wellcome Thanks.

  9. Hi, We are in the process of putting together a kickstarter for a collectible kit and/or miniature for tabletop gaming. We are here to get you guys involved and give us some useful feedback on these our first pass ideas at a Mecha/Vehicle Our initial aim is to produce a 3D printed kit, modular build, with a range of accessories, weapons, add-ons etc to make your choice as customizable as possible. At this stage we haven't decided on 15mm or 28mm, but we would like to go as large as we could to carry across some serious detailing in the print Attached are our first passes; very loose ideas, and we would appreciate opinions and feedback from you guys as to which you find the most appealing.. which aren't and why ? Are we swimming against the tide by not going for the standard Mechwarrior blocky design or are you guys crying out for something a bit more steampunk, outlandish and exotic?
