  4. Hi We are finishing our Fairey Fulmar project with 22 models done. On the other side, I have started to work on the next project which deals with the Martin B26 Marauder. This is the preliminary list. 1) Mk IB-26As FK115 Heelzapoppin 45 Group Communications Flight (later 231 Squadron) Dorval, Canada 2) Mk IB-26As FK130 F 14 Fayid Egyptlate 1942 3) Mk IB-26As FK138 Cap Don McVicar Uk September 1942 4) Mk IB-26As FK158 Miami Florida July 1942 5) Mk IB-26Bs FK375 D 14 Fayid Egypt late 1942 6) Mk IIB-26C-30-Mos FB482 Uk March 1944 7) Mk IIB-26C-30-Mos FB485 10 OTU Shandur RAF Egypt 1944 😎 Mk IIIB-26F-2-MA HD402 Uk June 1944 9) Mk IIIB-26F-2-MA HD500 Z 30 SAAF Sqdn Italy April 1945 10) Mk IIIB-26F-2-MA HD511 H 30 SAAF Sqdn Pescara, Italy September 1944 11) Mk IIIB-26G-20-MA HD690 YY 3 Wing SAAF Lt Col A.C. Jandrell DSO DFC SAAF 1945 One of our main issue now is to define which kit we will use for each version. We already have 6 kits (2 MPC, 1 Matchbox, 1 Airfix, 1 Frog and 1 Chematic) on our stash and we need to buy another 5 kits. Probably in the meantime my father will build two Dornier Do24 in RAF and RAAF markings. Cheers Santiago
  5. Hi Britmodellers, I'm looking for information and pictures of the B-26B flown by the 387th B.G. in 1945 named Hamilton Hey Maker II. Her serial was 42-96205, coded KX-N in the inventory of 387th BG/ 558th BS. There's a Kit's World decal sheet with her markings, and I want to portray this aircraft at the end of her career in 1945. All I found so far is a color profile in the Osprey book "B-26 Units of the Eighth and Ninth Air Forces" by Jerry Scutts, so I'm pretty much stucked with my research here. The plane was in the inventory of the 397th BG before transferred to 387th. If someone has a photo of this plane, or any idea of the original source where I can find it (books, websites, etc), and share the information with me, I would be more than happy! 😀
  6. Finally finished, after more than 10 years. In short, old Airfix Marauder, completely rescribed and riveted, with addition of QB guns, True Details wheels, resin engines and props from Academy P-47. I also added wing lights and small position lights on the rear fuselage and horizontal stabs. Painted with Model Master Olive Drab, then post shaded with Gunze OD. Gunze neutral gray on the bottom, shaded slightly with Tamiya Smoke. Decals from Hasegawa Marauder. Weathered with combination of sponge, Tamiya Smoke and Tamiya D set. Chipped with sponge, silver pencil and MM Aluminium applied by fine brush. After that, I added and overall thin layer of Tamiya smoke, to even the finish. Finally, treated with Tamiya semi gloss varnish, and is much less shiny in reality than in the photos. I always liked these worn out Marauders, they seem to be more faded and chipped than any other ETO aircraft. Here are the photos:
  7. The Hasegawa 1/72 B-26 Marauder frames come with 2 types of seat, one (G12) with a higher, squarer back than the other (G13), and 2 types of control wheel, one (G19) an inverted half wheel and the other (G20) of the spectacle type. In the B-26B/C boxing B-26B-25MA 41-31773 has a rounder seat (G13) on the left and a square one (G12) on the right, B-26B-50MA 42-95884 and B-26C-45MO 42-107666 both have 2 rounder seats . All 3 options use the spectacle type control wheel (G20) In the B-26F/G boxing all 3 options (B-26F-1MA 42-96281, B-26G-1MA 43-34191 and B-26G-10MA 43-34571) are shown with the square seat and the spectacle-type control wheels. Two questions: Is there a handy guide to which B-26 subtype used which seat? (The pattern from the very limited info above tempts me toward B26B/C with round seats, B-26F/G with squarer ones, with B-26B-25MA 41-31773 (Flak Bait) having been retro-fitted with one of the newer types, but it's probably more complicated than that.) Which if any B-26 variants used the half-wheel type (which is what Airfix provide for their kit)? This is to support correctly depicting options other than those provided in the kits and establishing what I can rob to tart up an Airfix kit. Thanks in advance.
  8. B-26B-20 Martin Marauder of the 450 B.Sqn, somewhere over France in 1944. This particular airplane 41-31765 ‘Fightin Cock’, was written off 12 august 1944 due to Flak damage. It crashed while it did a wheels up emergency landing, skidding into the airbase tower on it's home airfield killing the pilot and co-pilot, before coming to a halt. I’ve always loved the colourful and fancy looking Marauders, despite a rather fringy reputation in it’s early carreer days. I still think it’s one of the best looking ww2 US bomber. Everything is 3D modelled and rendered in Modo 902, with just a little post render work in Photoshop https://flic.kr/p/HhCn8z (the link to a larger copy) hope you like it ..
  9. Hello All, Minicraft 1/144 B-26 Marauder with print scale decals. Thought I'd have a go at the hairspray technique for the chipping of the paint. Seen some pics of these aircraft looking really weather beaten. Happy to answer questions if need be and thanks for looking. Welcome to 2016! Happy Modelling Ian
  10. Kit manufacturer: Hasegawa (Kit no. E26) Scale: 1/72 Type: B-26C Marauder Extras used: Eduard Photoetch Zoom Set Paints and colours used: Alclad, Gunze, Tamiya This particular Marauder - "Barracuda" belonged to 495th Bomb Squadron, 344 Bomb Group. Any comments appreciated Best regards Rune Haugen
  11. My Monogram B26 Marauder 1/48 ,not the best of kits but deff not the worst ,half way through i decided i wanted to try a water feature/crash dio, first attempt but reasonably happy with it .It needed something a we bit to add to it so i bought the Verlinden USN Pilots WWII in Dinghy,(changed the colour scheme to USAAF Crew) hope you like ,comments welcome.
  12. Been at this a while sorry so late and so far into the build, also decided to ruin a perfectly good kit !
  13. Sorry for the late start but I've been waiting to see if the Sun would "de-yellow" the decals before starting. Thankfully they are now nice and white and ready to go. This will be a (mostly) OOB build. The box & sprues shot... Nice to see engraved panel lines on this one, my Lancaster and B-25 have raised lines. Engine detail is... OK. There are no engines, but I have a cunning plan! I drilled, cut & filed out the fuselage windows. And made some bulkheads so I could add some Liquid Gravity. I popped some extra weight in the front of the nacelles just to be on the safe side. Some Mr Surfacer to seal it all in. There's nothing worse that a rattly aircraft A lick of black paint... And the fuselage and wings are glued and pegged.
  14. Martin B-26 Marauder. Built as 44-68219. Flown to France but saw no combat. Went to the French forces and then to Air France's technical school. Was given to Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace in Le Bourget, where is sat in storage for 25 years before undergoing a 5 year restoration. Was loaned to the Utah Beach D-D Memorial Museum in 2011 where she wears the markings of 131576 "Dinah Might" as flown by Major D Dewhursht 386th Bomb Group USAAF on D-Day. Pic thanks to Tony (Swordfishfairey)
