  1. Time for me to start my GB contributions in earnest… So this is in the stash and I’m almost caught up on my other GB commits and both my Drakken and Vampire are very nearly finished. Now it always my suggestion to be Airco and DaHavilland, so I thought I’d scratch build a DH1 side by side with the DH2, upon which it was based. So I’m off scaling plans. My first surprise, the DH1 is 4 meters wider than the DH2.
  2. Does anybody know of a good 1/24 scale Lancaster Mk III kit for a reasonable price?
  3. Hi everyone, First posting here so be gentle.🤪 Multiple questions i'm afraid and i hope you can help me... I purchased a HobbyBoss 1:48 scale A-7 Corsair2 kit first before doing homework and i want to give it to my son to make, getting a better more accurate kit. Can you advise a better kit of the same aircraft for me to make please? Secondly, i want to do the model justice with after market detail packs, etches, masks etc, but cannot seem to negotiate the plethora of these bits and kits that are available. Can you please help? Ideally i want to purchase all that i can to allow me to make a fully detailed and authentic greek A-7 in either camo, or if i can get the decals the 'Olympos' special. All help gratefully recieved. All the best David
  4. I had been sitting on the masters of these kits for some years. I had the wheels re-mastered by John Shinton some time ago and was approached My Martin of Coastal craft earlier in the year as he was interested in bringing them to market.... so here they are. The first two kits were released at SMW, and we now have the kits available on our website. 1/20th Cooper T51 Jack Brabham  1959 Monaco GP Winner Kit 1959 T51c Kit parts 1/20th Cooper T51 Chris Bristow  1960 Monaco GP 1960 kit parts The kits feature several different resins for the parts. Bodywork & details in standard grey resin. Suspension parts are in a harder black resin and the tyres are cast in soft black resin. Vacformed windscreens, decals and an instruction sheet is included. (Note the instructions are being redone at the moment should be ready in a few weeks). We had half of the production run, 15 of each kit and they are retailing for £100 each & we will include a set of micro mesh sanding sticks to help with the build. Thanks, Paul
  5. Hello, I am not sure this is exactly the right section for my question, so please inform me if it should be elsewhere. I get a ridiculous amount of pleasure from making Matchbox and Revell's 1/76 armoured vehicules with figures and dioramas. I moved from 1/35 after a dabble in 1/48 and 1/16, but decided I really do enjoy the 1/76 the most. I see many varied products in 1/76 and 1/72 and would like to know what the very talented people on this amazing forum feel are some of the best, most interesting, most rewarding kits to make in these scales (only armoured vehicules, figures or dioramas). I have seen Hasegawa, Italeri, Aoshima, Pegasus, Eski, Airfix, Caesar and many more. Thanks for taking the time to read and I look forward to adding to my Matchbox / Revell collection.
  6. The next three LH! kits will be: https://lifthereserbia.wordpress.com/2017/12/11/near-future-kits/ LHM039 Helio AU-24A Stalliion LHM041 FTB-337G Rhodesian Lynx LHM042 Boeing Skyfox
  7. Many years ago I made an Airfix Vulcan, which still lives (just!) on top of a wardrobe in my old room at my dad's house. It's in a poor state now, with a wing hanging off from glue failure, a snapped probe and very badly painted in innaccurate grey/green camo, along with peeling decals. I know it may be beyond help, and so much easier to just buy another Vulcan, but where's the challenge and achievement in that? So, does anyone have any tips on rescuing this old kit? Does it need a soak in warm water to remove the decals? How best to repaint it? I was considering an all over satin white and make it into an early Blue Steel white Vulcan. Would this work or would I need to remove all the old paint first? (In which case it may be a challenge I shirk!)
  8. Hi all! Finished my first ever loco kit recently! Please check out the link below and let me know what you think of the finished model (and also the quality/edit of the video) - constructive criticism extremely welcome! (it's the only way we get better right?) Not 100% happy that the wheels don't turn too freely, but hopefully I'll fix that on the next kit I build. Pretty content with the overall finish though. Thanks for reading guys!
  9. Hi, this is my finished Tamiya Mosquito B MkIV (1/48 scale). technically this kit isn't finished as i haven't painted the cockpit frames yet as i have to wait for the masks to arrive, but i didn't think it was worth putting it in WIP just for that. this kit was a dream to build, as the only fit issue was a small one with the fuselage halves, which was solved by the removal of the rear firewall/bulkhead. the decals however were a big letdown. they had lots of silvering (i didn't apply gloss varnish as previously i have never really had any silvering on the cartography decals I've used) and even when micro sol was applied they had difficulties adhering to the details. also, i rather clumsily moved one of the decals that was covered in micro sol out of line, and when i try to move it back it split (my fault). before i built this kit i had little interest in the mosquito, but after building the kit and doing some research i am quito fond of it.
  10. I am thinking of doing a Stuka as my next Luftwaffe build. Which is the best kit to get in 1/72? I like the look of the current Airfix boxing, but I understand it is a tooling from the 1970s...any advice appreciated
  11. UPDATE 1: Hey folks, This will be my first WIP thread on this forum. I picked up this cheap kit for a quick build. It's a very old tooling so I'll try and do what I can to improve it somewhat. I plan to practise my weathering skills using my airbrush. I'm quite new to airbrushing.. only dug the equipment out of the garage a few weeks ago and have had to replace the needle, etc. This will be one of my first projects that won't be brush-painted. Just something to bare in mind. Moving on, I did actually own a late 70s rubber bumper MGB GT once (in 1:1 scale) so that was another reason for picking up this kit. Just remember this if you're thinking of restoring a classic MG; MG stands for 'money gobbler'. Anyway, enough waffle.. a detailed inbox of this kit has already been covered somewhere in this forum, so I won't bother. Here are some pics of the little progress so far. (Below) The first few steps of the build are complete (bar the detailing) but I seem to have mislayed one of the leaf springs. I've been using the pot of Ever Build wood filler to weather the wheel arches, which you can see in a picture further down the page. I'm kind of experimenting with weathering, and I thought the coarseness of the woddfiller would give a good dirt effect... I'll be using Vallejo paints primarily for this build. My workbench (below). I've been using the Revell Contacta Liquid with built-in brush.. basically because I've used all my ther polycement glues.. need to buy some more... Here a pic of the wheel-arch weathering I've embarked on (below). As you can see I've applied a thin layer of the coarse wood filler where necessary to give the kind of surface you find in the wheel-arches. It'll be painted a dirty brown colour later, after I paint everything black and pick out the other colours... Appologies for the massive pics and the slightly poor lighting in one or two of them.. I couldn't find a way of reducing the size, and my camera displays the images brighter than they actually are. Anyways, I've ordered a spair leaf-spring from Airfix and as soon as that comes through the letter-box I'll do another update on this one. That's it for now though, Thanks in advance for any comments, Andy.
